When I click on the link that leads to this download:
http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup141.exe
I get a blank screen in Firefox that says "This object has been blocked".
I'm using Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall and have customized settings. I also have the Adblock plus extension in my FF browser. I've even removed all security options for CCleaner.com, but I still have a blocked page.
I usually download directly from this site as I prefer to download from the author. Even though Filehippo is a safe site, I don't like using 3rd party freeware sites unless it's the only place to get the program.
I also have a large HOSTS file. I did notice that ADblock plus blocked an a.tribalfusion.com script on the CCleaner download page, and my HOSTS file blocks tribalfusion as well. Could that be the problem?
I just solved the problem. I had to change my Zone Alarm Pro settings for Piriform.com, too. I had to uncheck the "Block Javascript" and "Block mime-type integrated objects" boxes.
Zone Alarm creates site options for every site you visit, and I have everything set for the highest security so that I can further customize and reduce security individually for safe sites. Since the CCleaner link redirects to the download from Piriform, I had to customize both sites.
Why they have an a.tribalfusion.com script imbedded in the CCleaner home page is another question. Most HOSTS files block it as does Adblock Plus.
Hi BrownSugar, it looks as though one or two things have changed. The page I used to link people to now shows this
http://www.CCleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
Instead I have to use this
http://www.CCleaner.com/download/builds
However I don't have your problem ( use a hosts file) but I use opera.
The internet is strange ![:)]()
Well, I just ran Zsoft Uninstaller and started to install the latest build of CCleaner. Suddenly, I saw the Yahoo Toolbar notice in the license agreement, stopped the install, and realized I had to go get the other build (No toolbar - English only) here:
http://www.CCleaner.com/download/builds

Yes that is the only build I use, and why I posted the new link in my post above.
I know you can choose not to install the toolbar, but like you I prefer the slim. ![:)]()

Instead of letting AVG control java scripts, why not get the add-on for firefox called Quick Java:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1237?id=1237
It lets you enable/disable javascript and java very quickly just from the toolbar at the bottom of your browser.
