Can't change forum's avatar

Is it just me or is the avatar change feature not working for others too?

I'm trying to get into the Christmas theme here guys... :)

Update:

thought it may have been uBlock, but no.

ended up getting it from a URL site instead of an upload from my PC.

me too

What's the image format, size in pixels, and file size in kb.

People in the past had issues using a particular image format with IPB forum software which I can't remember off hand at the moment, maybe gif and png I'm thinking because all mine are saved as jpg to avoid an error about the image format.

Also IPB forum software (in the past at least) would only accept an image falling at or under a certain pixel size which is 200 now (assuming 200x200), and the file size in kb had to be under a certain size which I now notice it doesn't mention anymore.

the one I have is 264x324px. PNG format.

it's the one I've used for the past 3 seasons. (same as all my other seasonal avatars)

in case the IPB software has changed, I'll play around with the pixels and format and see if I can find a combo that works.

(not that it explains the same images that wouldn't upload from my pc could be put imported from a URL)

I had a problem getting an avatar up here when I first joined.

It was not the size or the format that was the problem.

As I recall the problem was that I could not load an image from my my own PC, but only from a url.

I got around it by attaching the image from my PC to a post here and then using the url of that attachment to upload the image as an avatar.

(and then deleting the post).

Nothing to do with this forum, but may be of interest to others, there is also a quirk with avatars on some vBulletin driven forums.

Mods and SuperMods there cannot change their avatars in the same way as regular members can.

M's and SM's only get the generic avatar options in their user settings, they have to log into the moderators control panel to set a custom avatar.

super... <_<

... i have send a email to ipboard about this "problem" but i think it must be a admin or owners...

i think this would be the answer from ipboard:

Hello, you would need to have the owners of this community submit a support ticket in our client area and we would be happy to assist them with any issues.

Hello, you would need to contact the admins on that site for help, we only provide the software they use I’m afraid.

Thank you

--> hello admins, please report this error to ipboard.

(the upload of a pic from own harddisk as avatar is not possible...please correct this before chistmas is over)

. (please correct this before chistmas is over)
I highly doubt it's that high on the todo list. And I believe it's been this way for a while

Like I said above:

Attach the image from your harddrive to a post

post-73689-0-92701000-1449112971_thumb.jpg

and post it.

Once it is posted right click the image in the post and 'copy link location' (or 'copy image location' or whatever your particular browser says).

go to your settings, 'change photo'

Paste in the url where it says 'Import a photo from a url'

click Import, click Done

There you go; christmas avatar now showing.

(You can now delete it from the post if you want to, I left it there so you can see what I did).

EDIT

Changed back from christmass avatar to regular one.

cool work-around ;)

ok, i try it...

ps: very nice :) thank you very much for your advice, nukecad
