Have you got NoScript installed? It seems to generate a large amount of unresponsive scripts messages. You could try a system restore if you want to get your registry back.
By the way, the .reg files when opened don't replace other information they just merge and can create a mess depending on what keys are in it. A better way would be to back up your registry using certain programs (can I give ERUNT a plug?) and use those tools which restore the registry back to the exact condition as when the backup was created.

What do you mean by "system restore." Reinstall Windows XP? I use Norton 360. It's not detecting a virus - not that that means anything... thanks for the info. on NoScript & Erunt.
I could be wrong because I have never needed to select and restore a registry backup,
but I would guess C:\...cc_20101030_071357.reg: indicates a registry zap at the end of last October.
Unless your email system has been crippled for over two months I think a much more recent event caused the problem.
Alan
I have run the ccleaner Reg cleaner a couple of times, with backups. I thought I would reinstall to an earlier version of the backup. This issue is a recent issue. Thanks for your help.
BTW: I did uninstall Mozilla Thunderbird and reinstall it. It didn't help. If I could find out which program is failing, I'd just uninstall it and reinstall it. But, I don't know enough about this failure to know what is failing...
