Cannot delete two registry entries

CCleaner is a fantastic program and until now has successfully cleaned out everything it finds without problem, for a long time.

But recentrly during Registry Scans it finds these two registry errors ( missing shared dlls ) which it just cannot remove.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\cerbprovider.pvx

and

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\scheduler.dll

I cannot remove them manually from my registry either !

If I add them to the Exclude list .. then the exclude list entry shows:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls

which I assume means that ALL Shared Dlls will not be checked in future scans.

What is the solution to the problem here please ?

I might add that Zone Alarm is working perfectly normally, but it is annoying to keep seeing these two entries and not be able to do anything about them.

Cheers

Maybe there is still something in your computer that needed those keys. However, they seem malicious to me. As long as they don't slow down your PC in a significant way, they probably won't be a problem, unless of course they are some viruses that have attached themselves to the registry. Why don't you do a virus scan???

Any decent security program should protect itself from deletion,

therefore permission issues may arise and make it difficult to remove registry keys etc.

Seek advice from Zone Alarm

Perhaps it is NOT protecting you from malware any more,

Just possibly it depends upon certain dlls that have recently gone missing.

Perhaps "missing shared dlls" should NOT be fixed by deleting a registry key,

but by replacing that dll and tracking down a malware invasion that is crippling Zone Alarm.

Many thanks for your replies and suggestions Ishi and Alan ..

There is no malware, or any other infections on my system and as I said in my post; Zone Alarm appears to be working normally.

I will contact Zone Alarm and see if they can, shed any light on the mystery.

Cheers

You could try deleting them in safe mode.
