I have just purchased CCleaner. I am trying to clean my registry but every time I get to save a back up I am confronted with this message:
The file extension NortonAntiVirus.MediaStatusSink references an invalid program identifier. These are often left behind after uninstalling software. Solution: Delete the registry value.
Unless I can save a back up of my registry I can't clean it. Can anyone suggest a solution, please !?
Also I highly suggest only removing few entries and NEVER removing ones that are suggested that are tied to your current antivirus (i.e. if you still use a Norton/Symantec product don't remove that entry).
As for the message itself, ccleaner will give that warning for each of the found entries to give you one more (smart to take in many cases) chance not to remove that particular entry.
As hazelnut pointed out, answering the backup question in the affirmative (a very recommended action), will allow ccleaner to save each registry entry, that you agree to let ccleaner to remove, in a single registry file which can be merged into your registry often (but not always) fixing a problem caused by the removal
