Can I really trust this software when...

I read through the Tour and find typos? I find it highly ironic that I'm interested in using a program that cleans and optimizes a computer system that's supposed to be what? Detailed, efficient and thorough when even the SLIGHTEST little typo on their own webpage exists.

Things like this drive me away from using it because if there is that tiny bit of a lack in attention to detail for something so simple, who is to say there isn't some kind of mistake or lack of attention to detail in their software?

Specifically the mistake I found thus far is here:

When navigating through the "Tour" on page 2 when reading about "Tools" :

Tools

This section allows you manage installed programs and applications that run when you turn on your computer.

http://www.CCleaner.com/help/tour/2-main-window

This section "allows you manage" ?

What's up with that?

If anyone's going to invest my trust in using their software for something as critical as cleaning up files and maintaining system performance, which I might add Vista does a pretty good job on it's own (provided the owner doesn't do a lot of installing and uninstalling of programs all the time nor do they visit hundreds of crap websites that can be solely responsible for other issues), I would expect even such minute mistakes as this to not exist.

Welcome to the forum PHARAOH and thank you for your observation.

This will be passed on.

I find it remarkable that anyone could base their decision on whether or not to use a FREE program, on the fact that there happens to be a typo on that softwares home site.

I'm reasonably sure that the users responsible for 200 million downloads would probably be basing their decision on more important things. Maybe the fact that CCleaner has been downloaded 200 million times, and maybe take into account CCleaners recent achievement of being declared the WINNER of the PC Pro Awards 2008: Software Of The Year award.

That's not even including the countless hours members give of their free time here to try solve just about any problem that comes along, being Piriform software based or not.

It's always appreciated when someone takes the trouble to point out an error, but to seemingly use it as the major criteria in a decision making process, when so much time and effort has gone into the software, and the service provided here, seems to me to be a case of wrong priorities.

Edited:

Especially when a mind reading it fills in the requisite word "to." I read this post 10 times before I finally realized that a small word "to" was missing. But what do I know I've only spoken English 29.5 years of my 30.5 year lifetime.

Obviously O.P. is the type who circles mikstakesMilkshakesmistakes in the book s/he is reading, and then writes to the publisher fanzine about it (I do some of the former and none of the latter) :P

I would be very suspicious of this sort of thing, if I were buying something over the internet.

The words pedantic curmudgeon comes to mind.

From what I remember I have spoken English for about 62 of my 63 years.

Hi PHARAOH,

Welcome to the Forums. :)

You are obviously a stickler for details.

Your abilities and efforts to remove such errors would help us greatly.

As you can see our members are very proud and protective of what has been achieved here so far.

The Piriform products are free to all users. These products serve a very vital function in the daily PC use of millions of users, many of whom who could not afford such necessary programs.

If you would also be willing to devote your efforts, all could certainly benefit.

We have all served our role, now you can help !!!

Thanks for your advice,

:) davey
