Can cc cleaner operate if .NET framework is corrupted?

Can't uncorrupt my .NET on vistra pro system. Need to find a program that can wipe erased files that operates outside of .NET.

It would be much better to get your .net corruption sorted out.

What makes you think that you cannot fix it?

Method 2 on this page works, I actually used the Method 2 steps there on a friends machine at the weekend.

I uninstalled each problem .net one at a time using the .net cleanup tool listed, rebooted and then uninstalled another. Be aware that at times the uninstall seems not be doing anything.

Then went to Windows Updates and installed them again starting with .net 4 downwards, rebooting and then on to the next one, and they all installed and updated perfectly.

I wonder if this would be of any use ...

Cleanly Uninstall and Remove .NET Framework with Cleanup Tool :

There are lots of links out there for NET removal tools, so give the info a good once over before you decide to use it or not.

Have you tried a re-install of Net Framework over the problem version?

Welcome to the forum by the way.

EDIT: Ninja'd me hazel.

I uninstalled/reinstalled, and the install worked, but upon reboot, the framework was corrupted again. That's why i want to know if I can run this program without .NET installed. i was told the OS is corrupted and that's recorrupting the .NET when it is reinstalled on reboot.

Short of reinstalling vista and losing all data I don;t know what to do.

Thanks

If you are being told that your OS is corrupted have you considered doing a vista repair install? (which keeps your files and docs)

Or just copying your user files to an external drive and reinstalling Vista from new?

There is really no point in continuing to use a corrupt OS it will just lead to more and more problems.

I've just edited this post which more or less suggested what hazel suggests.

+1 to what she says.

Personally I would have expected CCleaner to do a normal delete without requiring .NET Framework

I would also expect it to secure delete without the .NET Framework.

I would never ever trust a self-confessed corrupt operating system to safely bypass vital files when executing the Wiping of "free space".

Thank you all for your responses. One question. I see in the cccleaner menu a cleaner icon and a wipe icon. Which do I use to remove empty space?

Sorry meant a cleaner icon and a tools icon within which there is a drive wiper.

Oh-one more question-I see this app says 64 bit-I have a 32 bit machine at home-will this work or is there an older version I need.

Thanks again.

Where do you see 64-bit?

To the best of my knowledge, CCleaner will automatically install the 32-bit version on 32-bit systems, and both 32-bit & 64-bit versions on 64-bit systems.

P.S. according to http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/introducing-ccleaner/system-requirements .NET Framework is not required to run CCleaner.

Do you need .NET Framework for any other applications? If not, I would not reinstall after uninstalling it.

Thing is pwillner, his Vista Operating System is corrupted, running cleaners etc on a corrupted OS can only lead to trouble.
