Being Spyed Upon

Not sure if this is the best place to post this or not but. ..

I understand that ccleaners uninstall list is made up of programs that appear in the registry? I might be wrong. If this is the case, would it tell me if someone has installed spying type programs like keyloggers, or the ones that take screen shots and other such programs on a PC.

If not anyone know of how to look for these things?

What you need is Uninstall Manager 4.30. In your case its a bit to late because you don't know what as been installed and when.

The number of this type of comment that I read on forums amazes me. How can I check if I have Spyware or Malware installed. You need to keep a check on all the files on your hard drive to see if any extra ones have been added, when and where. Uninstall Manager is incorrectly named it doesn't uninstall anything. You do a scan of your hard drive to check its contents. The next time you use it it tells you what additional files have been added, when and where. You decided if you want to keep them.

You can set it up to ignore certain folders e.g. Recent Documents, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies etc because these are changing all the time. You can also do a system restore. It doesn't cost much $14.95, its the best program you will ever buy. I've been using it for 5 years. ;)

It depends on what exactly your looking for. Most malware doesn't show up in the add/remove list but if this is a program like parental monitoring software then it might.

I recommend something like eEyes Blink (very good & free for USA) http://www.eeye.com

BLOATED! :P

That program while probably good but it isn't exactly user friendly and its very resource intensive.

This question really depends on what kind of montioring software this person is talking about. We need to know if she is suspecting viruses/malware or a nosy parent/boss.

CLOSE.

nosy people. My neigbor has asked to find out if his wife has installed parental nosy boss kinda software stuff on his home office computer. I see there is alot of stuff available to people to spy on their loved ones. Im just wondering how someone with some form of knowledge like myself would go about looking for this stuff for someone.

Its sad people need to act this way.

(truth be told from what this nosy neighbor (me) sees coming and going, he should be the one spying with hidden cameras..... thats all i have to say about that)

The best bet is to just perform a HijackThis log scan as that will reveal everything that starts with the computer.

Other than that press CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Windows Task Manager then find out where those resident programs are located that aren't a part of Windows itself, i.e.; third-party software. Other locations would be the registry Run sections which CCleaner will display when going into 'Tools->Startup' and CCleaner shows the actual path to the .exe file. Spybot-S&D will show this as well in 'Tools-System Startup' and shows more than what CCleaner does such as things starting from system.ini, etc.
