Yet another new threat today.
Scary little thing.
Be careful with ALL attachments.
Never open attachments from strangers. And when coming from friends, beware of them then too.
ALWAYS do a virus-scan on attachments.
Ever since I started using Windows back in Sept '98 MS Word .doc files have always been an exploitable threat so another "new" attack isn't really nothing new at all it's rather expected. Just follow Eldmannen's advice and have up-to-date antivirus software installed to negate allot of headaches.

Yeah definately watch out even from so called friends too, remember one of mine sent me an attachment, it turned out to be a virus, luckily it was just one for the laughter at making u screem as u think ur comp is being destroyed when nothing is really happening, but it shook me enough never to trust my friends

Allot of people don't know how to secure and protect their computers, and thus their ineffective security measures put everyone at risk they send or share files with. My motto is plain and simple: I don't trust any file from anyone or any server until I've scanned it with multiple antimalware applications.
Very, very, sensible Andavari.
I think sometimes people who are new to computers, do not realise that you can right-click on a downloaded file or attachment before you open it, and choose to scan it with one of your antivirus or malware programs.
i use ewido, spybot, adaware, etrust anitivirus, zonealarm firewall, cwshredder, spyware blaster, and dont surf porn or hacker sites, and i never get popups or spyware or virus, etc.
nothing fancy, though i have tried many paid for products, but i really believe if you think before you click you shouldnt have any problems.

However, if a file is clean on some-download-website.com and then goes through an infected computer on its routed way to you it can get infected, therefore scan everything.
