Basic Registry Question

I downloaded and used the cleaner and it cleared out 181MB of junk and all is well, but am hesitating to use the Registry cleaner.

I am not especially computer literate and don't know one Reg key from another. CCleaner scan found 476 issues that could be fixed. I've look around online for some basic info on registry cleaning and am still unsure of what I might be doing by running a *fix*.

I've read that CCleaner is really safe to run on the registry but am wondering whether I should run *fix all* seeing how there are 476 issues. Any suggestions where I can find really basic info on registry cleaning and guidance on which might be safe to fix, or if it is recommended to fix all?

Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

John

Running XP Pro at home on machine that has never had the registry cleaned in 3+ years.

When you run an issues scan and decide to fix, ccleaner will ask if you want to make a backup of the reg entries, say yes and put it in my documents and then if something is obviously wrong (not very likely) you go to the backup, double-click and merge, and you are back where you started!
