CCleaner can't remove this empty reg file left by Avira on an update.
lots of suggestions on the web but none seem to work or some with
to much work and detail (backing up reg/booting up modes)
there has to be a simple way to remove this shell without spending
6 hours doing it.
CCleaners 'exclude tool' would be a great if it worked on my edition
but it doesn't ....
if Avira won't cop to it and clean up its junk , why can't CCleaner if it
knows it can't remove it ...... stop sticking it in my face everytime I try
and clean the reg?

thanks Hazelnut, read and tried those solutions you offered with no results. The aformention file extension
will not allow you to remove it weather Avira is up or off. I guess if one doesn't have a working "exclude"
tool then SOL. You would think that all the fuss this file is causing on the net either Avira or CCleaner would
do something.
request a step by step working solution to make the file stop appearing on CCleaner Reg Clean PLEASE.
Are you saying you unticked this, following the instructions in that link above but it doesn't work for you?
