AVG Internet Security 2014- Are they going to add it?

CCleaner does not clean AVG Internet security 2014. AVG is a common program. CCLeaner USED to clean my older version. Is Piriform planning on correcting this? Thx

Clean in what way?

Do you mean AVG's log files and similar?

Is Piriform planning on correcting this?

I wouldn't call it correcting, it just takes them time to update CCleaner since they have to play catchup after the fact when programs are updated, i.e.; antivirus, browsers, etc., that are always changing something.

Hi,

If you see the attached screen shot [in post below], you will notice that AVG is not even listed as an item to clean. My previous AVG version used to be listed and cleaned until I changed to 2014.

Oddly, CCleaner lists McAfee which I do not have and never had.

What is a typical time frame to update CC once a major software program updates? Any hope soon for AVG2014? Thx :)

oops here is the attachment mentioned in the post above.

Ccleaner uses a file or registry key to detect programs. These items change as new versions are released. The developers, at times, must rely on the public winapp2.ini file template for new programs (after all we can't expect them to know and have every program that needs cleaning).

Often when a program is uninstalled it leaves behind traces, this is likely the reason for the McAfee listing. It maybe that your pc came with a trial of McAfee, or some freeware install a McAfee based toolbar at some time in the past, creating the detected entry.

The developers have included a way for users to read, in plain text, the inbuilt rules for ccleaner by running the program with an added command line switch

Today is september 18, 2014.

Almost ten months ago this discussion was initiated by mimme.

My CCleaner 4.17.4808 does not clean AVG 2014.

I repeat the original question: Is Piriform planning to correct this problem?

Thanks

There is no problem for the general masses, sadly only you as even the OP has never reported back.

I have v4.17.4808 and AVG 2014 Internet Security without any problems.

The things CC can't clean are the very files locked by the AVG software !

And surprisingly there are quite a few of those.

So lets start with some info so members here can hopefully help.

Whats is your OS?

Since you have piggybacked another persons thread, are your circumstances the same; is AVG listed?, is another AV listed?

What have you tried over the past year to try to fix the issue?

In order to properly clean some AVs those with a configuration box that allows their self-protection to be disabled would have to be temporarily disabled.

Months ago I tried AVG 2014 (their free antivirus) and had no issues cleaning it.
