Autopatcher

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so please do excuse me if this has been mentioned before.

Are you aware of AutoPatcher? This is a problem that rolls up all of the patches, fixes, programs and tweaks for various MS OSs, which you can deploy locally on a PC? It's ideal for deploying to machines that have a slow or no connection to the net and truthfully, it's a lot more straight forward than downloading everything from Windows\Microsoft Updates. The latest version is up to May 2007 and you can also add programs, such as Adobe Reader 8, Shockwave, Flash, etc so that AutoPatcher installs everything together. I use it for when I'm building new machines after installing XP with SP2.

Give it a try, http://www.autopatcher.com

Cheers, MSG

looks quite handy, Just did a reinstall the other day and had to await all the MS Updates to come down, could be quite a time saver.

Perhaps a time saver, however when it comes to my system I'm only going to trust getting the actual updates from Microsoft. Microsoft does have downloadable CD/DVD ISO image files with the updates, although the downloads are huge at least a local copy can be kept handy. I know when I've redid my system downloading all the WinXP Windows updates only takes about 30 minutes, but then again I already have the SP2 patch on a CD.

I cant wait for SP3... if it ever comes out.

I read on fileforum or softpedia that supposedly its coming out later next year and that IE8 may be bundled in.

I'd install SP3. For me to consider IE8 it would have to be a revoluntary leap foward from IE7's annoying to me non-conventional GUI design, that's if they release it for XP. No matter what they do with IE I'll always be using either Firefox, or Opera (if I start to like Opera again).
