Automatic Update Tool

Hey, i've been using your programs for a very long time now and i'm a big fan of it and have been recommending it to many of my friends and clients. But there's something i miss a lot which is a build in update tool, so we don't have to download it from your websites, uninstall the previews verison and find the new one and install it.

But instead automaticly recieve the update and install it in the program. This will make it even more userfriendly and timesaving and saves you one less file to download and make a mess over time on your system. This will be easier handeling on offieces and other similar enviorments with massive ammounts of induvidual computers.

Cheers John H.K.

I agree with the auto-update feature and this is not the first time that was suggested, however in my understanding of how programs are updated, the previous version always gets uninstalled first before the newer version is installed either the setup automatically does that for you or you have to uninstall the older version manually before installing the new one.

I haven't seen a program that makes an update to within the program without first uninstalling the older version. I just do not see how patch updates would affect the program especially if there in a change in the user interface for example.

Please search befor posting suggestions :)

i've seen a lot of programs such as Spybot SND, Curse Client, Avast! ect. ect. that has automatic update without reinstalling it. And about searching before i suggest isn't that i said it should be possible, i'm just sayin' what i miss in the program :P And i see nothing wrong with that.

Hi John, and welcome to the forum.

Just for information, all new versions of Piriform software can be installed straight over the previous version.

I think what Whopp!e was talking about were anti-virus products. I think what those programs do whilst updating is update their malware databases for example but perhaps not the actual build version of the program.

Maybe Ishi, but my comment was in reply to this from Whoop!e's first post about Piriform software:

so we don't have to download it from your websites, uninstall the previews verison and find the new one and install it.

No worries though.

:)
