Are there files on my "Ram/Memory"

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question.... I have recently doubled the Ram/Memory on my old computer and began using CCleaner and Recuva. I'm not even sure what the Ram is used for but now I'm wondering if there are files there that need to be overwritten as well as ones on the hard drive. If there are files in the Ram memory, am I overwriting them by using CCleaner's "Wipe Free Space" and/or Recuva? Thanks for your help!

Wipe Free Space does not wipe your RAM. Your RAM loses all data when you reboot or turn off the power.

Not to worry.

Here is a RAM tutorial.

Thanks a bunch for your help !
