Is there any way to display forum messages/posts in a threaded view?

You mean where every response in a thread will only "relate to/be under" the post they're replying to, instead of every response being chronologically listed throughout? That was the cutting edge of 1998.
If you want to address a certain persons' post just use the typically stolen Tweet configuration "@(name)" and they'll get it. We're big boys and girls here. Except for Andavari. I think he's a brand of peanut butter.

There used to be a 'tree' view in the old Piriform forum but not in this one. (People used to turn it on in error then ask how to get out of it)
You can set certain filters of course don't forget with the custom button.

But I buy Skippy peanut butter. Because I'm not a choosey mother. 
The only different, and possibly simpler way to look at the forum is to go bottom left of the page, and click on "Change Theme".
There are a few buttons to be accessed in the "Mobile" theme, which you'll have to play with to find out what they do.

I realised that after I typed it, well after I looked at the Jif peanut bar jar in the kitchen. Still though I'm sweet and delicious!
