How to reset the settings to the original settings? My Google Chrome settings is gone, I did not install Oxygen XML Editor and AVG, how to remove them? More and more programs listed there, but not removed when I uninstalled them. Most important, how to get my Chrome cleaner back? Need reply. Thanks a lot.

Are you the only user of the machine?

I ask because you say you never installed Oxygen and as far as I can make out you have to buy it unless it's just a 30 day trial version. You didn't use utorrent to download it did you?

Have you tried to uninstall AVG via the usual method, from the control panel? If so, and you are still seeing traces, try using the cleanup tool from AVG. Make sure you download and use the correct one, yours should be 4th down from the top in the list

Are you saying you used ccleaner and the Chrome disappeared?

Did you use the registry cleaner part of ccleaner?

Is your anti-virus up to date date and showing clean?

1. I'm the only user of the machine.

2. I did not use that Oxygen program, nor I didn't know why suddenly it appears on my Applications list.

3. I am currently using Avast 8, not using version 6 either. I stopped using AVG 2 years ago. Wonder why it was still there...?

4. I reinstalled my Chrome, now it's fixed.

5. Often used Registry Cleaner in Ccleaner.

6. I always update my Anti-Virus engine. Scanned whole PC, no malwares found.

My Avast entries ...

Although I don't have Avast 5, the Alwil "Program Files" sub folder still carries the "Avast 5" name, and I have never used or installed Avast 8, so how that got there I have no idea.

I have simply come to the conclusion that Alwil (Avast) are rather inconsistent with this program version numbering game, and as long as they know what they're doing I will leave well alone.

A clean install may get rid of those extra Avast entries, especially since they don't use Alwil anymore during installations. But doing a clean install just to remove some extra entries shown in CCleaner is overkill, especially if Avast, or whatever other program is running good.

I did do a clean install, still not working.
