Application Cleaning

I am running a spring clean with your wonderful CCleaner, but am a little nervous about the 'Applications' tab.

I have downloaded the Beginners Guide, read the FAQs and ran a search for 'Application Cleaning' which was somewhat inconclusive, listing several pages of topics to choose from.

So can someone please reassure me? What happens if i run the cleaner with all the applications ticked? It will not remove the applications? Or the data files? What will it do exactly?

I have used CCleaner successfully (once) in the past, but also had a wearying experience (once) that involved going back to a restore point, so i have come to realise this is a very powerful tool (which is what we want) and needs careful handling.

I also have a 'fix' installed that allows my pc to override its limit of 10 (TCP or UDP, i cannot recall) connections. How can i alert CCleaner not to touch this?

power to the people

For most programs, it just cleans MRU (Most Recently Used) lists. For browsers like Firefox though, it can clean the cache, history, cookies, etc.
