it's a bit harsh i think (the article that is).

smells too much of a disgruntled ex-employee.

to be a well-rounded article it needs more objectivity, give me the reasons/facts/stats/proof to support the points put forward.

(loved how he used the clusterf@#k word - i've been using that ever since i first heard it in Heartbreak Ridge - it's been very apt for some of the managers/companies i have worked for)

I think the issue with objectivity in Apple's case is that there doesn't seem to be a neutral middle ground

Anyone who knows enough about them to report on them seems to either love or hate them :lol:

While it's easy to say that Apple doesn't understand the web, that pretty much applies to everyone.

There are so many tiers and levels to understanding the web, that there is not one person capable of knowing all there is to know about the web (including how data is received/transmitted/wi-fi protocols/limitations that apply to ipv4 vs ipv6, etc).

Sure, Apple makes mistakes. So does every other person.

What I would gripe about, is how Apple mistreats others (like Samsung) for no apparent reason other than $$$.

I had no idea that you could patent rounded corners. I also had no idea that making $$$ is more important than anything else, even treating people right.

I have to wonder if the next idea that will be patented, is how to breathe? :lol:

Super I think they mean how to capitalize on the web, not quite the inner workings. I believe they specifically meant more like making usable web services, as they drew the comparison to Android's more-and-more impressive line-up of "just working" webservices, and that google is getting better at design faster than Apple is getting better and web development.

I agree that Google is fast getting better at design.

But I also tend to think that Apples mindset of building a walled garden where you buy, buy, buy but you never own what you buy... (iPod? MP3? Apps?).

Is at least a contributing factor in their decline in this sector of the market.

I tend to believe that people get tired of perpetually buying things, if they can never own them.

Yeah, I spotted that on Reddit. Lol'd at the poor map quality, but felt bad for those trapped in the park.

Apple probably made a giant mistake attempting to make their own maps system. I've compared them side-by-side on my tablets, and Apple has some things a bit more accurately, but the innacuracies and missing features just aren't absolved.
