Hi i would very much appreciaited if someone could give me a definitive answer to this question.
If i have deleted a file in this case a wav file should recuva be able to find it???
I ask this because a load of files have disapeared from some music sessions but i have not been able to find one despite crosschecking file size and file name !!
Nobody can answer this question, except with perhaps.
A file has a record in the MFT which contains its name and cluster addresses. When it is deleted the record can be reused at any time by another new file allocation. If this happens the deleted file name and (data) cluster addresses will not be available with a normal scan.
A file's data clusters are unmapped from the cluster bitmap on deletion. These data clusters can be reused at any time by another new file allocation. If this happens the deleted data clusters will not be available with either a normal or a deep scan.
New files are being allocated all the time, user activity, Windows logs, av updates, etc. It's just pot luck, really.
Recuva MAY find deleted files, it MAY even recover deleted files but the chances of those files not being corrupted are directly proportional to the drive activity.
that is, the more activity, the less chance chance of successful recovery.
