Anyone tried those software(s)?

- i am using that german FREE AntiVir personal version currently .. settled down on it for now..

I like it's simlicity..and the way it operates.. over more fancier (looking anyhow) AVG and Avast (even though they are great also)..

But as i think, someone mentioned in a Freeware thread here.. - that AntiVir is excelent ..and not too fancy looking one (i do not like too fancy ones actually - simplicity is good) .. and does a great job..and the design of it, internet upgrade etc.. - just suit my needs...

and the dude at their German Forum there (home site's forum) told me that they will have a new version 7 soon (September October maybe).. somewhat fancier i guess.. with Automatic Internet Updating etc.. (even though i do not mind the way it's currently - where i just click on Start Internet Update Button.. and it goes and does the rest) :)

I like it anyhow....

I also use antivir. I like it.

H+BEDV is now beta testing a new "Incremental VDF-Update" version of AntiVir Personal Edition Classic. It makes the updates much smaller so they download much faster. http://www.free-av.com/win_incremental.html

Two things:

1. Ewido is for 2000 and XP.

You can try a-squared Free it is similar to Ewido; but will work on your operating system. I have both Ewido and A-squared installed on my computer.

2. Here is an english support forum for AntiVir Free: http://castlecops.com/f88-AntiVir_Personal...on_Classic.html

When I used to use AntiVir it was when they had an English forum and a good forum it was, however when they suspended their English forum and only had a German forum I stopped using it since their forum was the only form of support for the free home edition. There's another antivirus product that looks just like AntiVir however it isn't free with the same GUI, etc., so perhaps they share technologies with another vendor, sorry I don't remember the name of it.

They have English sections there.. and English support currently..

I visit there nowadays..

And even dude helped me get rid of virus there.. and recommended to come here to CCleaner place.. among other places :P

He uses CCleaner also btw :)

their forum is here:

bpm3k, Glad to see you using it too (glad to see i am not the only one - hehe)

Plus you seem like an experienced user with all these programs etc.. - so that is a positive news (for me anyhow).. that someone like you uses it also :)

In any case i like it..

Gotto go to work now.. so not much time, but.. - thanks for all the links abovem - a-squared Free ( and Personal there too), antiVir's beta page with Incrimental thingy.. , antivir's English forum.. etc...

I book marked them...

BTW - at antivir forum there (German one .. where english support too).. this dude that helped me.. told me that in September or October or so.. new version of AntiVir is coming (if i understood him correctly).. - with automatic internet update.. where much smaller definition file will be needed etc etc..

Will keep eyes open for it anyhow ;)

I also use antivir. I like it.

bpm3k - why do you like .. and use this particular one?

What made you stop at this antiVir? ;)

And also - that site: http://www.av-comparatives.org/ .. they got those reports there .. some tests that they did.. using all those Anti-Virus programs...

What do you think of those tests?

Or what do those tests mean? ( i am not too experienced with those)

And by the way.. our AntiVir (aka HBEDV or something like that) - even though among those programs tested, is not the top one (after those tests were performed)...

Any comments about that?

Also i see in those reports there - some NOD32 ( http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm ) ..and some BitDefender ( http://www.bitdefender.com ) are among the highest rated..

(read somewhere also... one of those 2, i think Nod 32 .. was the fastest when scanning.. or something like that)

Any comments about those 2? (or anyone else...)

I use antivir because I feel that it is the best free antivirus program with resident protection. When I want to do an on-demand scan I use BitDefender Free. The bitdefender product does not have any resident protection which is why I use it with AntiVir.

On the AV-comparative site Kaspersky it rated the higest. But Nod32 is also rated well.

If I wanted to buy an antivirus program I would get Kaspersky. But I feel that the combination of AntiVir for resident protection and BitDefender for on-demand is good enough. Then I also occasionaly scan with Ewido and a-squared. I feel that as far as virus and trojan protection that I am as protected as free can be.

Yes.. Thanks!

I understand now.. I hear you...

I ll keep on using AntiVir also.. - besides - i like it ;)

anyone tried some kinda Sophos Antivirus progy?

http://www.sophos.com

If tried - What you think of it?

:D Hi yes winpatrol 9.7 beta very good works with everything else you have on your web site, like already mentioned will ask you before it does anything.

I've tried both Webroot SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor....

Webroot SpySweeper is really good for my standards anyway(the only thing I don't like about it is that you get a small trial.(I like freeware too much)

Spyware Doctor is one of the best...it seems to pick up more spyware than others, is updated like everyday, and doesn't expire for like another 4 years
