Another success story!

I was looking for a place to write a review of this software?!!

My brother and his wife, who hadn't taken a vacation that was *just* for themselves in at least fifteen years, finally got to use some of their accrued time-share weeks and went to Hawaii. They had a wonderful time on three of the islands. They had their MacPro with them and routinely moved the day's photos to the computer, erasing them and putting the SD card back in the camera.

Well they did that on the last full day and flew to LAX the next, where they tried to look at the photos at my house. Argh! The transfer had been corrupted and none were viewable.

They had to drive home to another state, and as a Windows person, I kept the SD card. I tried the "free trials" of several undelete programs... they scan and show you thumbnails and then go nyah-nyah, Pay $40 to get them back! The one that was "only" $15 wouldn't even run the free scan. I was getting discouraged when I found Tim Fisher's list on About.com and downloaded Recuva, his #1 pick.

The program seemed a little ham-fisted, scanning two large harddrives before getting to the SD card, but it really did the job! 176 of the 179 photos and 16 of 22 AVI/Mpegs were recovered (apparently SIL had shot a few snaps at the airport that overwrote the few that were unrecoverable). My brother and SIL are thrilled!

Thanks for posting and letting us know about your success at getting the photos back.

Spread the word :)
