1st time here so if I fail to provide all the necessary info please excuse
Using Recuva 1.13.304
Windows XP SP3 - Intel Celeron 2.00Ghz CPU - 256Mb RAM
Does a standard scan of C:|drive in seconds but finds no files, when I choose the deepscan option it gets to 2% then crashes
Crash info window shows as below
Error signature
AppName: recuva.exe AppVer: 1.13.0.304 ModName: recuva.exe
ModVer: 1.13.0.304 Offset: 000466d9
Windows says the following error report would be sent ? but when I go to the location ? it is not there!
C:\DOCUME~1\Dad\LOCALS~1\Temp\cf75_appcompat.txt
A .dmp file is saved to the folder but system doesn't know what program to use to open it
That's all the info I have
Thanks
Pete

Just had anotehr thought and not sure if it's relevant.
After scanning online and finding MANY recovery software packages, I noted the majority spoke of not installing the program to the same drive as the one you want to scan for deleted files.
I am running the program from a 1gb pen drive

First TY to Piriform for making awesome software
Unfortunately there seems to be a bug causing the deep scan feature to crash when scanning the system partition:
Executable search path is:

Some info: Recuva v1.13.304, XP Pro SP3, User account running Recuva as Administrator, Eset Smart Security.
BTW I successfully scanned my data partition with deep scan even though that is the same partition I was running Recuva from.

Well - this was a really worthwhile exercise joining the forum and asking for help !
12 days and the only reply I've had is someone else adding their problem in my post
I guess that means no-one actually knows the answer to the widespread deep scan crash problem then!
Have you tried downloading the latest version (1.14)?
