Analyse is very slow, suddenly

I have been using CCleaner for a few weeks now and been very pleased with it. One of the good things was how fast it is.

Then today, all of a sudden, when I do an "Analyze" it is taking ages, and hanging at about 30% done. It seems to be stuck on System / Temporary Files.

This never happened until today. An analyze scan used to take maybe 5 seconds, or less.

When I check Windows running processes, I see CCleaner and NOD32 antivirus taking up a whole CPU between them.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it's just the same. I have also tried upgrading to latest version 3.08.1475 and this is just the same too.

Does anyone know why CCleaner's behavior has suddenly changed? It seems like some conflict with my antivirus software, but it all worked perfectly until today. I haven't done any updates to my antivirus, other than the usual definitions updates which happen automatically.

Ok, I have fixed it. Sorry to bother everybody!

It transpires there were 100's of locked 0KB files in my Windows/temp folder, all prefixed "NOD", e.g. NOD234.tmp. Created yesterday presumably by my antivirus software during some update or other.

I manually cleared the temp folder and all is well again. Strange CCleaner would not delete them though.

Things like NOD32 will stop malware from deleting their files,

and cannot tell the difference from legit applications like CC.

It probably knows the difference from a User hence it allowed you to delete them
