amount of fragmentation - problem

I check my fragmentation level using Defraggler.

I am 30% fragmented.

I de-frag my computer.

I visit the BBC website and look at the home page.

I check my fragmentation level using Defraggler.

I am 29% fragmented.

Question: How can a short visit to the home page of the BBC fragment my disc so much ?

Just the Wingdings3 font in Paint. HlEvY.png

That font is in Vista but is omitted in Win7, so had to install from here. It ends up in Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Character Map and appears in Paint\Text.

kroozer I have Windings 3 in Windows 7 Home premium 64bit paint installed by default. What 'bitness' do you have?

64 bit. I guess I got robbed.

I wonder if it's to do with default input language installed, mine is English (United Kingdom) as is the Keyboard.

Hazel, I believe the default language does impact what shows. I think there are minor differences in our & your English, such as displaying money in $$$ Vs the UK Pound symbols.

They had a utility a while back to switch default language, but I am unsure if it only worked on Ultimate versions. Might be worth a try! Just for testing...

Now your gonna make me wanna download a font view utility to see all my installed fonts at a glance so I can see what options I have... :) I don't seem to have wingding 3 on my 7, just wingding. I wonder if I have other arrows in my webdings, etc?
