Amazingly OTT packaging

Stumbled across this on The Register and some of it verges on the unbelievable, though amusing:

I just reuse any packaging from items received in the mail as it saves allot of money, and those styrofoam packing peanuts and plastic bubble wrap can be reused for a very long time.

If I have no use for them such as an oversized box like shown in that article about HP they all get cut down and sorted in our recycle bin which is properly recycled by a company locally in my town that prints paper products and such.

There's also a hardware store that also ships items which isn't far from where I live that will take all of packing peanuts and plastic bubble wrap someone can bring to them and they reuse it.

Thanks for sharing that JD. Laughed my socks off.

That was good for a laugh.

I agree though, Iv'e had a few over sizes boxes, but none to that extreme.

Receiving items from PC manufacturers in over sized boxes is the norm from my experience. Like receiving a replacement floppy drive in a box that could comfortably house a 19 inch LCD monitor.

Then again they could do it to bump up the shipping costs, i.e.; make a profit on the shipping by using a big box to screw over consumers which isn't unheard of.

Lol that was pretty funny! Nice link JD.
