I'm new to CCleaner. Am I understanding this correctly:
When I use the "clean" function, the files that are cleaned are gone and "almost" irretrevable"
When I use the "drive wiper" for free space only, I am actually removing all traces of any file / folder / that I ever deleted by way of the recycle bin. If the answer to this is "yes", therefore I could dump all of the contents of "My documents" into the recycle bin, and wiping free space would shred them.

Close.
Actually Drive Wiper will removing all traces of any file / folder / that (was) ever deleted in anyway
I could dump all of the contents of "My documents" into the recycle bin
empty the recycle bin
and wiping free space would shred them
Hope that answered your question. Welcome to the Forum
Also it's is the general consensus that Wipe Free Space (whether from the Tool or the Advanced section of the System Clean Tab) should be done rarely and only when nessecary as it WILL decrease the life of a HDD and/or SSD
Now I only have one more question: I don't want to do this procedure, but I noticed when I go to Drive Wiper, click on "Entire Drive (All data will be erased), that seems to be the end ... nothing more can be done in that box. So, IF you wanted to do this, how would you proceed?
No, I don't see that at all. I can select regarding how many passes, but nothing more. Only option below that is "Local disk" which is greyed out and can do nothing with it.

This is because the Local Disc is the drive with Windows on it and thus can not be fully wiped, becuase you wouldn't have windows then (it creates a paradox)

because of this please answer
What Windows (Version and Service Pack) are you using?
Be sure you have the latest (at the time of this posting 3.15.1643) version of CCleaner
Would like to hear if there are any suggestions as to why this part of the program doesn't seem to be working for me. Should I uninstall, and try again?
Sorry the message flew before I was finished. Now i think I have it figured out. It won't let me wipe my C drive (and since I have no other drives on this computer, there are no more choices. It will let me wipe free space, and as before, there is only a C drive, so there are no other choices as in your example above. So Ccleaner is working as it should. Do I have it right?
so it will now wipe freespace from that screen? if not, I have a little more to go on from your image, so when I get to a PC I'll try some more testing.
Do note that, while they rarely comment, the developers read every thread so our work here is crucial to fix this issue.
@nodles read the thread again yes what you describe is right but (previously) the OP was unable to select "free space only"
I hope I haven't mislead you. I always had the option to either choose "wipe free space" or "wipe entire drive". It was just that I couldn't understand that if I chose "wipe entire drive", I could actually do nothing (since I now understand, because I only have a C drive and nothing more). Thanks for all your time and effort.
