Hi All,
After purchasing CCleaner, I used it to scan my system in hopes to improve performance as my wifi was acting funny. Now after the updates and fixes, my mic does not work, no matter what I do, and the wifi is actually slower. How do 1) I eradicate CCleaner from my system, and 2) revert back to all my previous settings so I can actually have my Asus laptop work correctly? I am super upset if you could not tell.
I suspect that you have ‘updated’ drivers to versions that are not meant for your machine.
(It’s a problem with most Driver Updaters, they offer the latest version - whether it suits your machine or not).
Try using the ‘Fix a problem’ button to see if it can roll back the drivers for you:
If not (or if you have already uninstalled CCleaner) then you will have to get the correct drivers from Asus, (or Microsoft generic drivers), and change them yourself.
How old and what model number is your Asus laptop? What version of Windows is it running?
PS. You may not there that mine says it has found 9 drivers to update on this laptop.
I won’t be doing that, this is a Lenovo laptop purchased new 3-months ago and the correct drivers for it are supplied/updated by the Lenovo Vantage tool.
PPS. You shouldn’t use every tool in CCleaner ‘just because it’s there’, some are quite powerful and can cause problems if you don’t know what you are doing with them.
In particular the Registry Cleaner should not be used regularly, it’s for fixing a problematic computer not for cleaning a healthy one.
