Adobe warns about falsified Flash player updates

Adobe has issued a warning about a trojan disguised as a Flash player update that over the past seven days or so, has been using MySpace and FaceBook to propagate itself. Some sites or profiles on the social networking web site purportedly contain such comments as "Paris Hilton tosses dwarf on the street", "Examiners Caught Downloading Grades From The Internet", "Hello; You must see it!!! LOL. My friend catched you on hidden cam" and "Is it really celebrity? Funny Moments and many others",

Phew, good thing I don't do MySpace or FaceBook.

Phew, good thing I don't do MySpace or FaceBook.

I don't do MySpace but I do FaceBook with my daughter as that's the only way I could get to talk to her.

Thanks for the warning, have passed it on to some clueless friends lol

Koobface Facebook and MySpace Worm Infects Users with Trojan Disguised as codecsetup.exe

8/11/2008

Summary: A new worm is raising havoc for Facebook and MySpace users. Called Koobface (and alternatively the Facebook Worm, MySpace Worm, Facebook Virus, or MySpace Virus), the MySpace and Facebook worm posts messages on Facebook and MySpace with links to what it claims to be a video. When the users follow the Koobface MySpace or Facebook worm link, they are told that they need to update their video player, and to "click here". Of course, what they download isn't really a video player update, it's a trojan called "codecsetup.exe" which allows their computer to be taken over and controlled remotely.
