For the past 2 years, I have used CCleaner on my Vista and the entire time I have had "Adobe Flash Player" as an option to check under "Applications / Multimedia."
Recently I got a new computer with Windows 7, I downloaded CCleaner and installed it, but now there is no option to check the "Adobe Flash Player." The only option showing up under Multimedia is "Windows Media Player." A number of other options are missing under "Applications" as well, but that is not my main concern.
Same thing with me. Adobe Flash Player Option Not Showing Up, unless I install Flash Player ActiveX for IE. I usually install non-IE Flash plugin because my default browser is Firefox. It seems that CCleaner is not detecting non-IE Flash plugin in the same way as IE plugin.
Flash cookies had been getting deleted like clockwork until the most recent Flash plugin for Firefox update - Shockwave Flash 10.0.45.2 - which I downloaded 15 Feb last via the Adobe site and installed manually as per usual.
Expected: A Flash, or adobe flash, item in the CCleaner applications list
All settings for regularly visited flash site deleted after each manual running of CCleaner from the context menu item.
Actual results: No Flash or adobe flash item in the CCleaner applications list
No settings for regularly visited flash site deleted after each manual running of CCleaner from the context menu item.
Exploring the hard drive finds that none of the items in %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player that are normally removed by CCleaner are being removed when CCleaner is run.
Further results: Uninstall/reinstall CCleaner - no change
Reboot system - no change
Added the flash cookie folders - %appData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects and %appData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys
to the CCleaner Options|Include list - and this will be fine for managing their deletion.
Happy to add any other details if this is a bug chase. Your app is my most relied-on admin tool and has been for some years.
I usually install non-IE Flash plugin because my default browser is Firefox. It seems that CCleaner is not detecting non-IE Flash plugin in the same way as IE plugin.
The method of installing is probably the reason, rather than the particular plugin maybe?
I've always scratched around the Adobe site for a stand-alone download of their update, rather than doing one controlled by their website, just to make sure I don't get trapped by their opt-out free "security" ware. Until the latest update, it was possible to first refuse the "security" ware, then proceed to download the installer, but this time I really had to dig deep to find the downloadable, rather than let the site run the install, and I didn't go through any refuse-the-secure-ware gate to get there. So it may be the absence of all Activex controls for the install that is getting this particular update not recognised by CCleaner. The extra information I found from looking at the current set of ini files points to this: the detecting key for "Adobe Flash" is a CLSID.
Be that whatever, it's no problem to list the cookies folders for a custom delete.
Installing non-IE Flash plugin is not creating CLSID. I checked it with Regshot (registry before&after compare utility) and CLSID is not there, while IE plugin is creating it. I did install standalone versions of them which i found ziped on Adobe site and they are indentical to ones found on Filehippo.com
