Adobe Flash has advanced to version 11.1.102.62. But it still sucks. When I open a folder with one or more *.FLV files in it then Windows (XP) becomes (more) sluggish / less responsive and it takes Windows Explorer (significant) more time to display the content of those (and other) folders. It also takes XP (significantly) more time to switch between running programs.
Taskmanager shows that from time to time CPU usage spikes up higher and usage even can reach 100% for a number of minutes. I extract those *.FLV files from the temporary internet files folders. I didn't install Quicktime with this or the previous version of Flash. So, that's not the cause for this sluggish behaviour. Do other user have similar problems ?

Why use FileHippo and not the official site (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)?
Sometimes navigating the Adobe site can be a minefield there are so many Adobe sites with conflicting info on when a new build comes out, sometimes the download page even downloads the old version
So I wait a couple of days and get the FileHippo one with nothing bundled... just easier I guess. Plus any reports about problems with the new version will have been put on different forums by then

Getting the installers from FileHippo is significantly easier! I just wish FileHippo also hosted the Flash Uninstaller, then I wouldn't bother with Adobe's site.
All the newest versions are either Betas or Release Candidates (RC). Seems Adobe knows Flash needs to be (dramatically) improved. Don't know if I am going to install the latest version any time soon. But the Adobe website also said that v11.1 wasn't succesfully installed on my laptop. Ouch. I guess I'll try to re-install v11.1 properly first.
@Andavari: Very good idea. The Flash uninstaller should be available at Filehippo as well. But then the 32 bit and 64 bit uninstaller version should merged into one program and that's not the case, according to Adobe. Still some work to be done for Adobe. The wesbite has become (a bit) more user friendly.

A few years ago their site substituted for the Flash Download a Downloader,
which then chose what part of my system it would pollute with itself and with the "Flash Download" that it insisted upon managing itself.
At that time there was no way to update Flash without the extra malware.
I chose to restore my partition backup and live with the known vulnerabilities of an obsolete Flash Trash
rather than trust my system to unknown but guaranteed to be present vulnerabilities of the latest Flash Trash,
and that also eliminated their unwanted downloader.
The Flash uninstaller should be available at Filehippo as well.
If only.
They supply the trash, but not the means to remove it.
When I search FileHippo they only offer various Adobe products,
plus 5 off Google Ads to websites I have never heard off.

I would however point out that the only mechanism I could depend upon to remove every trace of their download manager,
was the mechanism I will use if my system is ever infected with a virus,
i.e. restoring a partition image backup.

Same here. There's Microsoft's Silverlight, but I refuse to ever install it since the only site I've seen that "needs" it is Microsoft.com.
There is an oldies radio station that "needs" it, so I just install it whenever I want to listen, and Powershadow dumps it on restart. ![:lol:]()

That version caused me no end of trouble with IE8 for some reason. I had to revert to the previous version of Flash.

Did you uninstall the previous version first or did you install over the top of it?
