My CCleaner 6 has a three part activation key whereas CCleaner 7 seems to have a five part key. Does this mean if I buy a new subscription from a third party which has a five part key, for my second computer, must I change to CCleaner 7 (which I don’t want to)? Secondly if I do install the five part code on CCleaner 7 can I still revert back to CCleaner 6?
Hi @daivehawke,
All new licence keys for CCleaner should be 3 blocks of 6 characters and can be used to register both CCleaner 6 and CCleaner 7.
Both applications will also still accept any legacy keys, 5 blocks of 4 characters, that are still valid.
If you are experiencing any issues registering your licence, please message me back.
Hi Laurence
Thanks for the info. Are you saying that I should be able to insert a 5 block of 4 key into my CCleaner 6 which has 3 blocks of 6 - because when I tried it, it wouldn’t accept it?
@daivehawke If the key is valid, then yes, this should still work; however, these are older legacy keys and so likely to have expired.
Please send me a screenshot of the error you are getting when you try to use this key and I can advise you further.
I’ve had a look at what I take to be the activation key on my (third party) receipt - it’s a461d6bd-e263-425c-8728-e5afd5e2e97f. Doesn’t appear to fit the formats you mentioned? What are your thoughts? Also here is screenshot of my current key on version CCleaner 6. I haven’t attempted to use the new key since we started this correspondence
Hi @daivehawke,
I have removed the screenshot you sent as it showed you licence key and you may not want this visible in a public forum.
As you said, the key you have listed does not match the key formats for CCleaner.
I have sent you a DM for more details on this key.
