3 bugs today! -plus a bonus question...

(#1) OK, the 1st bug was this: CCleaner claimed it needed to update to 4.18.4844, but when I tried to, the most recent update available was 4.18.4842 - the same update I was running!

(#2) Secondly, I see two (2) CCleaner processes in Windows Task Manager when I run CCleaner (instead one -as in times past), and then - get this: Even when I close out of CCleaner, I still see one process running... what up, dawg!?

(#3) not related to CCleaner, but there is a relic image of a previous action on the screen (but I add this find as anyone here might help me: For what it's worth, I have to reboot my computer to get rid of this ghost image).

(#4) Bonus question: If I want, simply, to get rid of any and all cookies, can I safely chose to "opt-out" of the intelligent cookie can option?

PS: Please see the images attached, here, for details. Thx!

Gordon Wayne Watts in Lakeland (between Tampa & Orlando), Fla.

and after you do that, read this;

Thanks - I saw that before I got to your post, and downloaded it, but thanks anyhow. (I wonder why the most current link wasn't where I initially checked LOL?)

Cool - thanks for the tip - I unchecked it, and sure enough, that "extra" process disappeared.

** PS: Does anyone know what the difference between "System Monitoring" and "Active Monitoring" is??

Thx!

Something I'd like clarified as well.

I believe System Monitoring is the PC, CC looks at your level of garbage and self-starts if it hits the trigger point.

Active Monitoring is keeping CC itself up to date.

But that's just my (un)educated guess. I couldn't find any official documentation on the Piriform site.

by enabling System Monitoring or Browser Monitoring, Active Monitoring will be enable too

if Active Monitoring for CC update, what about option to check for update in "Settings"?

I'm still not sure either..., but I think your guess is probably right. Thx 4 replying, MTA.

Yeah, I noticed that too -- If you check sys monit. then it auto-checks Active monit., and make you have to manually uncheck it.

The message I get when I try to uncheck the 2nd one (Active Mon) is:

(Title) "Disable Active monitoring" (followed by "!" in triangle in front of later text)

(Text) "Warning - this action is not recommended. Active monitoring will ensure that CCleaner is kept up-to-date and your computer is as clean as possible." (line-break)

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

This strongly implies that MTA was correct in his/her guess that the Active Monitoring is for updates. - Thanks again, to both of you, DvdBane.

The same thing happened to me.

At first I thought 4.18.4844 applied only to the paid or professional versions.

So can I download 4.18.4844, for the free version of CCleaner, or is there some reason for staying with version 4.18.4842?

For the free version of 4.18.4844 see here

- Piriform still needs to make that link point to the proper newest version.

- CC's GUI needs to provide a better explanation to make the difference clear(er) between the 2 "Monitoring" options. I was confused as well. (Who reads those manuals nowadays, right ?).

- Lots of confusion about the new version of CC when I surf around on this forum.

That's because Piriform never explain a new feature, it's left up to end-users to figure it out up until they post it on the docs site http://www.piriform.com/docs.

But who wants to read that documentation on line ? How many people do that anyhow ?

Most people won't read it or help files in general. However to understand the new feature it's useful, and now available in the docs:

I never read docs or readme files in 15 years of using computers and never will. I think it's better if we have like a pop up caption for each feature

I do too, I always appreciate it when a program has that ability.
