  1. I haven't tried it(I uninstalled chrome in about 20min) but I just heard that it can make web apps like google mail, google docs, ect. offline programs(the same idea as google gears). If I used those services then I would maybe use it just for that.
  2. Although I'm not using Google Chrome I'd like to suggest if anyone is testing out removing it's left-overs try doing that when it's closed/not running, especially when not using its built in cleanup tool.
  3. each tab runs on its own thread. By the way, I believe I read in the usage policy that anything you write and submit through the web, google has the rights to redistribute it. /me writes a novel on Google Doc's using Chrome. /me watches Google publish his book.
  4. CCleaner does not support beta softwares as they can change during beta stages. Thread here already in progress about Chrome so will close this one. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=17583
  5. 1 - Wrong. Upon reading this, I tested, and sure enough, I was able to load Chrome the way I wanted, with the homepage I wanted. 2 - Wrong again. Tinker with it before making assumptions. The options menu is how I was able to change homepage
  6. Hi hamza, and welcome to the forum. I don't have it installed, so I dunno where it sends it's stuff, but if you watch this space, either Dominic the original poster will fill you in on that, or maybe one of the guys on here still using Chrome.
  7. Hi Dennis Could you please tell us which Folders we have to add in case of google chrome browser? Thank you in advance
  8. @rridgely - I take it youre on XP right? On Vista, Chrome uses glass and looks beautiful
  9. The interface of Google Chrome is prettty good. It is the style i like but it does not work so good on my computer.
  10. I think I agree with most in here I am trying Google Chrome it is fast but I will stick with Firefox I like the toys that come with Firefox sorry the addons that come with Firefox lol.
  11. I cant believe people are actually praising this thing. I think the google name is blinding them from the truth. The interface of this browser is such crap that I cant imagine anyone trying to do serious web surfing on it. Seriously... you cant change the homepage.. you can only have it load additional pages? Not to mention there is no search bar, menu bar, or.... options! Oh and its just a beta right? Well your also forgetting that just about everything google does stays in beta pretty much forever so its not getting better any time soon. If you like this then you probably would like saf
  12. I'm trying Google Chrome on my old PIII with this post and so far I like it. I haven't figured out why it red underlines some spell check words like PIII or how to put it into a dictionary but I guess there will be a forum set up for it in a while. I'm off to see a local Acupucture doctor as my right hip is driving me nuts right now and last time I had a treatment it worked great but I had to pay for it myself as our Medical system did not pay for it at that time.
  13. Chrome is still in Beta though so I don't know. I'm not even going to try it to be honest. They had some story about it on the news saying it was competition for Microsoft Explorer - they should've said Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  14. I second the motion to add Google Chrome to the main app list. Though I'm sure this is already planned.
  15. Gave it a brief run here and it seemed quite usable. The memory usage seems to be controlled exceptionally well. With one tab open it was only using 14 meg memory then I opened up six tabs with the mem going up to 50 meg with it dropping back to 20 meg after closing all but one tab. Speed is on par with FF but I really can't see myself using Chrome fulltime as I just like FF and my addons too much atm.
  16. Why'd they call it Chrome? That's an all too obvious referral to Mozilla. Nobody at Mozilla's complaining? They can't think of a unique name? Weird.
  17. Hi Dominic, and welcome to the forum. Just a suggestion to achieve your aim immediately. If you know the path to the Chrome folders you want to clean, you can add them to CCleaners "Include" feature. CCleaner\Options\Include\Add Folder or Add File. Just remember to check "Custom Files and Folders" in the advanced section.
  18. See if this link loads faster for you http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/index.html
  19. Pics have already leaked out before the official release. There was some video to but they killed those quick. http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/01/first...-google-chrome/

  21. Just because you or your mother haven't come across any problems, doesn't mean anyone else might. I, for example, use minimal add-ons, keeping to what I need, and deleting what I don't. (Although, I go on monthly add-on sprees, to see if I 'click' with any.) I actually had my first crash since beta installation, but that was due to some add-ons that weren't fully compatible yet. And, if your mother installs large number of add-ons, it does nothing more than build up in memory. It's not viruses we're concerned about, it's user-friendliness and general overall clean running. Another note, Firef
  22. I find Opera's startup slow if I use a filter list to block ads. As for NoScript-like functionality in Opera, I find it rather a hassle. Does v9.5 have the ability to temporarily allow scripts in sites when you click on them, like how NoScript does it? Also, some sites I visit look terrible in Opera, for example Mobius Games. I don't what it will appear on others' screens. P.S. Did you edit the classic.jar/classic.manifest in the chrome folder of Firefox so it will use the Strata theme for Vista? Because that's what I did to mine.
  23. Just noticed I do have a backup. Chrome edit plus with profile backups. Just don't have a clue what to do with it

  25. I've tried it three times and always return to Firefox. Can you have your bookmarks tabbed in Opera? That, about:config, chrome edits and extensions are what I love about Firefox. I have it built and appearing exactly the way I want it. However, I'm a speed freak, so that is why Opera is always tempting!
