  1. 2 lines are running. 160k and 5k of Private Bytes. Company Name is Piriform Software. In Settings, Background sync this is unchecked: "Don't allow sites to finish sending or receiving data" Is this normal? It runs in the background after its closed. That is not cool. Is there another setting I might have missed?
  2. That makes sense. Thanks. Do you know if there's any way of getting CCleaner to shut down totally when I close it after scanning? It seems to leave itself running in the background after I scan and close it.
  3. Thank you. I just noticed that the links sent via email for a new reply don't work. Here's the last one: https://community.ccleaner.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=redirect&url=https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/63610-ccleaner-seems-to-start-automatically-in-windows-7-how-to-stop-this/?do=findComment%26amp;comment=338890&key=f0afa60e368bf8dfa979625bdda820142dd3cf2cd7c75d4ab01fbdbff908c472&email=1&type=notification_new_comment Copy and paste that into your browser and you'll get: Sorry! We could not find that topic.
  4. I think you nailed it. Thank you! It was the Automatic Updating. Strange that they would choose to run that in the background. You don't need it updated until you're next using it after all.
  5. I can't edit a previous post? What??? So under Options, Settings, there is an option: "Run a one-time clean with the Custom Clean tool when you start Windows". Of course that is unchecked.
  6. Like some of the largest financial institutions, country websites and media sites like CNN. Or they'll display without any images/videos. Is there any way of toning down the security settings? I've disabled almost everything in Options. This is not just a CCleaner thing of course. I just did a re-install of Win7 Ultimate 64bit and never had these problems before. I use several Chrome based browsers including Google, all updated. Example: One of the largest banks in the world. Your connection is not private Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.rbcroyalbank.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Learn more NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID Back to safetyHide advanced This server could not prove that it is www.rbcroyalbank.com; its security certificate is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.
  7. I've looked through the options and see nothing for "Start with Windows startup" or anything similar. Short of disabling it in MSCONFIG which I don't think even worked though I'm not sure because I'm unable to test it right now, isn't there an option somewhere that controls this? I try to run a really lean operation with a minimal number of things running in the background.
  8. Every other browser is logical. You can set it so when you use Control_Tab it brings up the last visited tab. Like any thinking person would want. Also when using Control_PageDown it doesn't work properly either. Is there any way of making this thing work like a normal Chrome browser? Otherwise its great!
  9. It appears that the CCleaner browser cache for Windows 7 is not "cleaned" by CCleaner. Why? Could I have missed something in the settings? I see nothing about this anywhere yet it obvious what is happening. There is no provision for any setting for the CCleaner Browser in CCleaner! Its like they don't even know they make a browser. How does this even happen?
  10. Is there any way of stopping this? I see nothing in Settings related to this. What could have possessed them to do such a thing? If we want to see our History we just use Control+H like every other browser, then sort through the results. The Start page only holds a few. This makes no sense at all.
  11. I can move it but to update it requires more care. Or a reinstall. Don't know if settings/bookmarks would be lost on a reinstall on D drive but I think more and more people are realizing that its a little ridiculous to depend on any browser for our bookmarks. They're just too important. They need to be browser independent. I've been trying a text based format with HTML capability and its nice in that I can make notes much more freely than in a browser's bookmark program. I can also add colours and group them much faster as well. The key is to use expanding and collapsing bullet type organization in your text program. If it could be activated with the up/down/left/right arrow keys that would be ideal. But very few programs allow for that. Not sure if any text programs allow it to be used. Its a very fluid way of navigation. TreeSize uses this and it works well though when it collapses it sends you to the top which is poorly designed. But otherwise its great. I think XP's Windows Explorer also used this but it didn't work in Win7. A bookmark system that works like a File Manager is very good as well but you can't hyperlink the name of a folder. Boo! So you have to open that folder to click on the hyperlink in text format.
  12. Normally it installs on C drive. I want it on D drive organized the way I like. But when I do this it doesn't update, probably because its looking to update a location on C drive. So can this be fixed? I found the update .exe program and moved it to D drive but it doesn't work. Can I fix this and have it work on D drive? Having everything on C drive is very short sighted. If we have to reinstall the operating system its a lot more work reinstalling all those programs instead of having them on a different partition or drive. Also moving almost all my programs off C drive frees up a lot of space. We want our best performing drive to be C and best performance is usually the highest price/storage amount. So its often a battle to trim down the size of C drive.
