Have you tried running it from a new user account (control panel/users/create new). Sometimes a user profile will become corrupted & cause problems. Also, does it do the same if you use 1.44 (1 version newer) or 1.42 (1 version older)?

I am aware of that. But many browsers use similar (standard) ways to do things. Such as CTRL + P for print, CTRL + S for save, or CTRL + O for open. I only posted what works in Firefox, in the hopes that perhaps one of them will work also for you in the browser your using.

It seems your main argument against using 3.5 inch external drives is heat. I'll give you a few more. 1) 2.5 inch external drives use only 1 cable for usb & power. 3.5 use 2 cables. 2) 2.5 is smaller, so it looks better 3) Since it is smaller, it is more portable 4) Smaller drives also use less power 5) Easier to hide/setup/use/carry/etc.

Two questions... 1) Isn't every file a "live" file? That is to say, all files downloaded from the internet in the internet caches are "live" as well, but CC removes those, right? Could you explain more what you mean about what a "live" file is? 2) Also, pointstone has ADS scanner that has the option to ignore safe ADS content (doesn't show Zone Identifier when checked, but it does when you uncheck it). If pointstone could ignore zone identifier data, couldn't CC include option to ignore all ADS properties except zone identifier data, & just remove those? My finger gets tired from thinking of all those clicks....

I am not sure if this helps, but you can right-click individual items listed in CCleaner to clean only those items/groups. Using this, you can simply clean what you want without having to make profiles. Is this what you wanted?

Question? You can clean external drives under Drive Wiper with CCleaner. But that will erase EVERYTHING. Are you wanting option to erase everything, or just clean trash on external drives?

Some users have almost 0 free space on a drive. Defraggler could have an option to select a drive (or partition) that has a lot of free space for use during defrag. Though there'd be writing to & from the drive/partition, it would still vastly speed up defrags on drives with very low/no free space. Users could even have option to select a flash drive with lots of free space, to improve defrag times.

I have a lot of files, & it is a pain in the rear end to manually identify each file that has a Zone Identifier Alternate Data Stream (26 bytes) that blocks features of a program unless I right-click/properties/unblock. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/alternate_data_streams.html is a cool utility that showed thousands & thousands & thousands of files that I have with such identifier data. Perhaps an ADS (Alternate Data Streams) button under tools? Allow users to select a directory of files to clean. Thanks!

If 8 separated their slide screen apps from regular desktop windows (as opposed to the way it flits from one to the other in my testing), it would be great. I hated the way it would be in desktop mode one moment, then switch to full screen apps (Do I want to be a tablet, or a pc?) Also hate the way charms pop in & out when your opening programs, or simply need to go near (not even touching!) the corner to reach a folder/etc. I suppose many of these could (eventually) be worked out, when I have time. Sigh...

I wouldn't think that you have this problem, but if your time/date is off by too much, many web browsers will throw up an error saying certificate is invalid. Just something to check (& verify your time & date is correct). It can happen that it is off if someone installs Windows time zone settings (instead of the one for yours), or if your battery is dying/dead on your motherboard that keeps track of the time. Other ways also, but just to verify that your time is correct? I believe it probably is, just want to eliminate that possibility.

Just replaced the 1GB RAM stick with 2GB. As expected, system rating changed little, if at all. But with 2GB, it runs slight smoother & has enough to support 64 Bit Windows as well. Have a lot to test, this could take time, but I intend to update later.

Also, things I would love to have in Windows 9: 01 - Aero (Disabled in 8) 02 - Windows 7ish UAC (Don't love the Windows 8 version of it) 03 - Separate Password Protected Read-Only Windows partition: a - Security - Protect Windows files from changes by malware/viruses/Windows updates without permission. b - Fragmentation - Insanely fast defrags & reduced fragmentation due to Windows files being eliminated from defrags. c - Speed - Virus/Malware scans would be insanely fast, without having to scan Windows partition. d - Stability - Eliminating changes to the OS without a password would make Windows insanely more stable. e - Search - Insanely fast searches, since no Windows files have to be indexed. 04 - Easy speed slider: Speed - Dragging slider to the right disables more & more non critical services & features, till it gets to the speed user is seeking (netbook, old PC, or just want a faster PC, etc.) Who knows better than Microsoft, what services are interdependent on each other, & which may safely be disabled? Users can select features that are critical (Aero/Search/Internet) & allow Windows to disable all but what is necessary to support those features. Stability - No telling how many users ruin an installation by not being able to remember which settings they changed, & end up hosing a system/re-installing. With the slider, no more dangerous mucking around to get a faster PC, & it is easy as pie by dragging the slider to the left to restore settings back. 05 - Central space manager - Easy way to manage space used on all partitions. For instance: Recycle Bins - Users can easily select how much total space is used by recycle bins. Used to be, it was 10% of a drive. But on todays cavernous drives, that an be a cavernous amount. Allow users to specify that no drive uses more than 5GB for Recycle space. System Restore - Same as above. 12% of a drive for restore points is ridiculous on today's cavernous modern drives. Allow users to specify no drive use more than 5GB for System Restore space. Hibernation - Allow users to disable it from here. Page File - Since running out of RAM will bluescreen a PC when they have 0 page file, include Auto-Enable of page-file. If a user exceeds RAM, then instead of blue screening, auto-allocate 512 MB Virtual RAM blocks on the drive on the fly as needed. Auto-delete V-RAM blocks, after users have more than 512 MB System RAM free again. This will solve having to choose between huge page files, or blue screens. 06 - Activation Manager - Enable users to easily backup & restore their activation status (without use of 3rd party programs). 07 - Default Windows for speed - Come preconfigured with Restore/Aero/Internet Explorer/Windows Media Player/Etc. disabled. But DO include them, & allow users the choice to enable them via enable/disable windows features component in the Control Panel. Also, allow users to set up a MinWin that just has enough for Windows to run Internet/Aero/Printing/Touch Screen. Instead of including masses of items that users never use like gobs of worthless sample screensavers, movies, pictures, whatever. 08 - Default clean interface - Come preconfigured with 0 items on the start menu. Allow users to add only the items they will need in a Start Menu manager. 09 - Taskbar Start Menu - Let's face it. Start menu programs have grown inconceivably complex. Include option to tab out the taskbar in whatever way users wish. Example: -> Documents | Games | Music | Pictures | Videos, where installations are content based & auto-install to the correct folder. Games if a game, music if a music file. MS needs to provide free/simple installers that are point & click that give users option of choosing which group their program belongs to, whether it is 32 or 64 bit, what OS it supports, etc. 10 - Master System Settings on Taskbar - Gear icon near clock for functions such as: Reset - Checkmark the system settings you wish to reset, or reset all Clean - Checkmark what to clean, or clean all. (IE temp/system temp/etc.) complete with scheduled times to run Defrag - Choose what % fragmentation to allow before defrag kicks in (auto disabled on SSD drives). Also, choose whether to just defrag fragmented files, or files + free space. Backup/Restore - Choose what to backup from 1 place. Network settings (great for wifi), files/folders, IE bookmarks & passwords, etc. 11 - Embedded Boot - Include a very basic MinWin that loads very basic Windows/Network/Print options. If your HDD/SSD goes down, you can hit embedded boot button on your PC tower case to load an embedded version of Windows (loaded direct from motherboard instead of HDD/SDD drive). Great for times when your drive goes down & you want to recover files from the drive without a lot of trouble. 12 - Live backup - Create bootable ISO of your existing Windows setup, that will auto install everything exactly how you have it setup right now (no time spent asking what your language is, what time zone, checking what drivers to use. Windows auto sets things up, so speed is lots faster). 13 - Eliminate Registry - Registry is complex & the source of many problems. Do away with it, please, & make it so that when you get rid of a program, ALL the trash installed with it goes too. Allow users to choose if they want to save or delete files added by these programs, so users don't accidentally get rid of user profiles/trash/other they wanted to keep. 14 - Locked state programs - Ability to install programs/directories & password protect them to prevent any changes. Users will need to invoke the super admin for this function, since malware may abuse it otherwise.

I don't know everything about 8. And totally transparent. Have to test. 11 - Animated GIF -> May have to mod two .Reg keys to make it work, but should support XP Image Viewer * One person reports having the following problems under 8: 1 - Right-click/Email photo. -> Gone. Have to go into mail and attach. 2 - Videos -> Some videos won't play, unless you use Windows Player. 3 - Chrome -> Crashes constantly. (May be due to MS giving advantage to IE as per below) 4 - Multi-tasking -> Difficult. 5 - Search -> Difficult/4 steps/doesn't search all files on computer. _____ I have heard that 8 removes support for a few things that give IE10 an advantage over other browsers. I may be testing 8 for a netbook to see if it loads faster & if wifi resumes properly after standby. Or, waiting for 9... Who knows? Got anything to add to this? Let me know what you think!
