  1. Can having a laptop on your lap too long cause it to overheat?
  2. That explains it then, sorry I didn't see that. Thanks for the help.
  3. I agree with everything stated above, and I would like to point out (which is quite obvious) that a school's hard disk would most likely fragment a lot faster because of the constant file addition/deletion, ect. I could be wrong, but that is my theory.
  4. Agreed, I really love this forum.
  5. Oh my god, it worked. Hazelnut.. you are amazing. You are very helpful. That's the 2nd problem you've helped me with, with my new computer.
  6. Sadly no, I tried a download from Javacool and MajorGeeks. It keeps saying that the file is missing, and then I decided to check for myself. I looked in c:/windows/system32, and sure enough there it was. It is quite strange I keep getting this error. The file is in the right place and it is registered.
  7. Hey, I just tried to install Spywareblaster and when I tried to open the program, I came up with this strange error. Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. So I searched Google for 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' and download an installer from the Javacool website (makers of Spywareblaster), this however did not help. I tried a few installers and nothing worked. Anyone have any idea what to do?
  8. Hey, when I try to download the latest Java on the latest version of Firefox.. it will not work. It could also be that I am on Vista? If anyone knows how to fix this, I would really appreciate it.
  9. Is there a way I can make it so I don't have to keep clicking "Run As Administrator" every time I open a program?
  10. Is there a way I can make it so I don't have to right click and run as Administrator?
  11. It worked! Thank you so much Hazelnut! My new laptop just got delivered this morning and it has Vista Home Premium and it is hard getting used to. Thanks again!
  12. When I scan for issues, CCleaner will find them.. but when I try to remove them, they are still there. Is there something not allowing registry changes? I am using Windows Vista if that helps. Thanks!
  13. Well my new laptop (waiting for it to arrive on my doorstep any day now) has Vista Premium, so I assume it will come with it?
  14. So it does not come on Vista already? ..or is it not even out yet?
  15. Is DirectX 10 installed with Windows Vista by default? If not, where would I get it? Thanks bunches!
  16. Actually I'm pretty sure Windows Vista comes with DirectX 10. I could be wrong though.
  17. What is the difference between Bluetooth v1.1, v1.2, v2.0? Also, are they backwards compatible? Thanks
  18. It's a Dell Inspiron 1501, and the specs are as follows.. -AMD Turion? 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0GHz/1MB) -Windows Vista? Home Premium -2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM -120GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) -8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability -ATI RADEON? Xpress1150 256MB HyperMemory? (Integrated) -85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery -Dell 1505 Wireless-N (Wireless Card) Brand new, all for $970 ($1027 with tax) Is this good? Also, if I forgot something.. just ask.
  19. Grr, I can't find the Dell Inspiron 1501 with an Intel processor. I could have swore I saw it earlier. If anyone finds it, please post the link.
  20. Hell yeah, tell those salespeople. When I order, I'm going to give them hell.
  21. HAHA! Yeah, I'll keep that in mind when ordering. Also, should I order over the phone or the internet?
  22. The highest upgrade it shows me is 2.0 for AMD and Intel. Now I can't even find the page where they offer the 1501 with Intel.
  23. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6389077-1.html It is for desktops, but I'm sure the laptop scene can't be far off. If I find one for laptops, I'll post it. Yes, the video card is a Radeon Xpress.
  24. That is a really nice laptop actually. I'll probably stick with the Dell, but if I decide to reconsider, I know where to look. Also, for gaming.. it is clearly noted that AMD handles 3D applications better than Intel. The only downside I could find about AMD was shorter battery life, and it generates more heat.
