  1. Ok, I didn't know about the INI file. Don't know what that is. I can't find a Ccleaner user manual either. So that box wasn't checked. I just checked it now and I assume that will fix it. Assuming checking the box makes it create a new ini file for itself. I will keep an eye on Spybot S&D scans to make sure it isn't deleting any files like this that are needed. Thanks for the help.
  2. I want to know why Ccleaner keeps re-enabling smart cleaning and enabling usage data tracking, every time I disable them. Recently I've been defending Ccleaner. Everyone keeps telling me this program is malware. Then in the middle of those discussions, I come across this program illegally forcing data tracking. So now what am I supposed to think.
  3. My subscription fee was charged on Dec.1st, even though the subscription doesn't renew until Jan. 1st. It bounced because there is nothing on that credit card. So I complained in the email that it shouldn't be charging a month in advance. I got a reply about the "reasons" for it, disregarding my clear command not to charge my card a month in advance. Later the system charged it again and the payment went through. Fine, I just let it go. You people want to be arrogant like that? Fine. It's not worth fighting about. Then I got another reply with more nonsense, and asking me if I want to refund the order. I was crystal clear on saying NOT TO REFUND THE ORDER. And then what happened? I got another email stating the order was refunded. YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME WITH THIS! Read the following very slowly. Read it twice if you have to. Yes, I am confident that I'm communicating in BASIC ENGLISH DO NOT REFUND THE ORDER Is that clear? (This is some terrible customer service) I don't know what your customer service department is smoking, but THEY NEED TO FIND A NEW JOB!
  4. Did that, and the result is the same as yours. Excellent, thank you. Just started using Directory Opus 12, so not sure if that was involved in the recycle bin issue or not. I doubt it.
  5. Ok, that's what I did. The windows reinstall using the media creation method doesn't fix the broken shortcuts. I'm having to reinstall all affected programs. It's slowly coming back to normal. The windows store was still broken. I had to install that package thing with the command prompt to fix it. I did a security properties procedure to gain full administrator control over the files on my computer. That should help. My recycle bin was or still is corrupted. I ran the scannow on the command prompt. It found and fixed corruptions. Don't know if that's fixed. I couldn't get qttabbar to work on my explorer, or even uninstall. But it's fully gone now, and in that process I learned of Directory Opus 12, which is way better. I found microsoft powertoys too. Very happy with that. Thank you for the help.
  6. Ok, well I've been using Ccleaner for a long time now without knowing that. I assume the only fix for my issues is another windows reinstall and then leave the registry cleaner alone unless I need it.
  7. Recently I was stopped from being able to open programs unless I right clicked them and 'run as administrator'. This is a new problem that I never used to have. Other issues and this one made me reinstall windows. So the programs could be opened normally once again. I have hotkeys to launch programs, adding the hotkey to their shortcut properties. These have stopped working too. After sweeping the registry with Ccleaner, both problems are back again. I see that in the results list it is deleting things like 'unused file extensions' and things like that. So how can I fix these problems and stop them from happening again?
  8. The issue with opening up firewall permissions, is I have them blocked for a reason. It's not worth it to allow microsoft's electric eye to shine its pale malevolent glow on me, just for a simple updater tool. Does anyone know which particular firewall the driver updater relies on?
  9. Ok I've checked out my firewall list. I like how windows says my firewall isn't even running. That probably has something to do with having spybot take care of security things. I do have some groups of entries manually blocked. If the driver updater relies on one of them in this list, that would explain the problem: - Cast To Device - Delivery Optimization - Distributed Transaction Coordinator - File And Printer Sharing - Media Center Extenders - Microsoft Edge - Remote Assistance - Windows Media Player - Wireless Display Thanks for the registry scan tips. I've never had an issue with that, even though I've always just fixed issues without studying them.
  10. I can't seem to remove this accidental quote above, or discard this draft to start over. Even if I close out the webpage and come back to this. Yikes. Yes I'm running the 2NFF active license. Checked the program files and the 64 bit version is set to run as administrator, and the box is greyed out. 32 bit version wasn't set to run as admin. I enabled it, but the about screen says I'm running the 64 bit version anyway. I might have a firewall block on it; that would make sense. I will have another look at it, but what firewall entries are in association with Ccleaner?
  11. I just love when companies want to discuss details by private email, to make sure the details of how their product destroyed peoples' lives isn't publicly available. How am I not surprised at this kind of thing in 2022.
  12. My Driver Updater still doesn't work. It just freezes and if I leave it long enough, it tells me I don't have access to the internet. Do I have access to the internet, Piriform? This is going on a year or so it hasn't worked. When it was first introduced it worked once and then it hasn't since.
  13. Way WAY TOO MANY notifications about a future license renewal. I don't need to be reminded every two flippin days that my license is going to expire in FOUR MONTHS! Enough is enough. I can't even use the program now without hitting the 'remind me later' button. How bout no. How bout don't remind me, cause I can handle it, thanks. If I can purchase a subscription, then I can do it again. Your constant renewal nonsense is borderline predatory business practice. Give your head a shake.
  14. For some reason, when trying to scan my computer with the driver updater, it says that it can't connect to the internet. There are two reasons this is weird: I've used it in the past when it first came out, and it worked fine. It had installed several drivers. And I do have internet access. Submitting this post is proof. I've just updated to the latest Ccleaner version, tried the scan again, and it's still not working for me.
