  1. Hi @tylarius Thanks for all of the information.

    By chance, do you have the Desktop version of CCleaner installed and if so, does this allow you to uninstall CCleaner Browser, as follows?

    • Open CCleaner > click Tools > Uninstall
    • Right-click CCleaner Browser > click Uninstall

    Or, can you please see if the browser can be uninstalled using the following steps?

    1. Click Start > type: CMD
    2. From the search results, right-click Command Prompt > click "Run as Administrator"
    3. Type and enter: 

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner Browser\CCleanerBrowserUninstall.exe" /run_source=cp

    Hi @tylarius When you attempt to uninstall CCleaner Browser, does the uninstallation process stall, without progressing further, or are you encountering a different type of issue with this?

    Additionally, can you please tell me what operating system you are using, and what version of the browser is installed?

    You can find the browser version as follows:

    • Open CCleaner Browser > click Menu (Menu Chrome.png
    • Click "Help and About CCleaner Browser" > About CCleaner Browser
  4. Hi @mepowers In continuation with what nukecad has said, you may also want to verify if the same event is recorded when using something else that calls upon the WMI service, such as the System Information utility in Windows:

     

    • Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run
    • Type: msinfo32.exe > click OK

    Afterwards, check to see if the same WMI associated event is recorded in the Windows Event Viewer.

    It's better, but still fails to handle hostname-only (no domain suffixes) cookie names like:

    
    localhost
    mydesktop2
    mydesktop2:<port>

    etc.

    Hopefully these will get addressed in the next version.

    Hi @magic144 Thanks for notifying us of how there is still a problem adding cookies with no domain suffixes to the "Cookies to Keep" list in CCleaner.

    I can attest to this as I was able to add these into v5.74 of CCleaner, whereas I receive an error message when attempting to do so in v5.75&v5.76. 

    I've notified our development team of this, and I'll ask our support team to followup with you via our email correspondence.

  7. Hi @Ray Spengler Can you please (if applicable) terminate all of the running processes associated with the CCleaner Browser via the Windows Task Manager, then see if it can be uninstalled?

    Additionally, can you please see if it can be uninstalled using the following steps?

    • In Windows, navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner Browser
    • Right-click the "CCleanerBrowserUninstall.exe" file > click "Run as Administrator"

    Otherwise, can you please ensure that CCleaner Browser is not configured to automatically start with Windows?

    • Open CCleaner Browser > click Menu (Menu Chrome.png) > Settings
    • Under the "On Startup" section, move the "Launch CCleaner Browser automatically when your computer starts" switch to the left, to the Off position

    Afterwards, please restart the computer, then try to uninstall the CCleaner Browser again.

    Hi @UmbertoFrancesco No problem at all. :) I wanted to follow-up with you on this because v5.75 was released today and I hope this version will work for you, without issue.

    If needed, simply click on the "Check for updates..." link located on the bottom-right corner of CCleaner to install the new version.

    However if the new version also closes before completing the Health Check operation, or if you experience any other issues, please let us know.

    Everything worked fine before Windows 10 update to latest 20H2, I disabled Defender / Microsoft security and Sophos (anti4us) but without result (no solution). The tricky part is that when I start Windows in 'safe mode', there's no problem running CCleaner. But in 'normal mode', nothing happens. I can try other login account or a new account, but with the same outcome, CCleaner just won't start/open. 

    Event logs don't show something weird, except APPCRASH (event 1001), but with no extra info what so ever. 

    Still fiddling with this from time to time, but nothing yet.

    Hi @Epic Considering how CCleaner does open in Safe Mode, you may want to perform a 'clean-boot' in Windows, using a process of elimination to see if you can pinpoint what prevents CCleaner from being able to open in the normal mode of Windows.

    Hi @UmbertoFrancesco We believe this might be resolved in the next update for CCleaner, v5.75, and we intend to release this soon.

    Would you be willing to follow-up with us at that time to confirm if the problem still exists in v5.75?

  11. Hi @JamesJ This problem should be resolved in v5.74.8198 of CCleaner; to install this version, simply click on the "Check for updates..." link located on the bottom-right corner of the program.

    If the problem persists in v5.74.8198, you may need to disable the "Keep CCleaner updated automatically" option, in addition to disabling Smart Cleaning-

    1. Open CCleaner > click Options > Updates
    2. Uncheck "Keep CCleaner updated automatically"
    3. Click Smart Cleaning > uncheck "Enable Smart Cleaning" > click Yes
  12. Hi @massie. First of all, we're very sorry to hear about how this happened as we can understand how upsetting this would be, especially when considering what has resulted from the loss of your settings; I've reported this issue to our development team so they can investigate further as we definitely don't want this to be a continued problem, going forward.

    Meanwhile, and once you have your desired CCleaner configuration, I'd suggest that you save your CCleaner settings to an INI file. With this, you'll have a backup copy of your custom preferences so that you can easily restore them, if/when needed.

    You can save the settings to an INI file using these steps:

    • Open CCleaner > click Options > Advanced
    • Check "Save all settings to INI file"

    Afterwards, close out of CCleaner and the ini file will be created in C:\Program Files\CCleaner, named as "ccleaner.ini".

    You can move this file to a location for storage (such as a USB flash drive, or another folder) and if settings are ever lost, simply move the file back into C:\Program Files\CCleaner to restore them.

    Nie byliśmy w stanie odtworzyć tego problemu i nie widzę, aby był on zgłaszany w innym miejscu, więc najpierw zaleciłbym zainstalowanie wersji 5.74.8198, aby sprawdzić, czy to rozwiąże problem.

    Możesz pobrać / zainstalować wersję 5.74.8198 programu CCleaner tutaj:
