No, please do not just delete everything!
You still have to click on the subkey for the "xxx.exe" of the affected program, as I described it for Excel (excel.exe). In the right panel of Regedit you will see a Debugger entry if you are affected by the problem and you can delete this Debugger entry.
Got it, thanks a lot for explaining this.
Cheers! -

CCleaner keeps throwing "debugger" subkeys into the registry, and three times in the past four months I've had to search the registry and delete those CCleaner-related debugger subkeys in order to restore the performance of the affected programs. Yesterday, it was Macrium Reflect, and I spent several hours doing everything I could think of (including uninstalling and reinstalling) before I remembered the debugger issue. Sure enough, when I searched the registry for the main executable in the program, I found a debugger subkey that named CCleaner, and when I deleted that entry, the program performed perfectly again after a reboot.
Could someone please comment (again?) on the debugger phenomenon, and why CCleaner kills programs with it?
what do I need to search for in the registry and delete?

I've pointed admin to this thread but for now do as i did and take ccleaner.exe and ccleaner64.exe in the base folder, and (if wanted) drag the dlls from the folder best describing your pc (64 or 32) to the same folder. as far as i can tell this should re portablize it.
Thanks a lot champ!

They used to be in the portable app itself in a file named ccleaner.ini but after the latest version, CCleaner ignores that file if I were to run it on another machine and I have to reconfigure all the settings again then it remembers them on that machine only so it's not really portable this way

I think the bottom line is people these days don't want to be tracked. They don't want a piece of software which is supposed to remove junk connecting out to Avast.
It's too much like a neighbour who watches from behind the curtains and notes down everytime you leave the house.
This.
I have been using CCleaner for years and there is no better alternative. I've tried them all. Some don't clean as well and others have ugly big buttons everywhere to upgrade to their Pro version. Heck I don't mind paying for CCleaner as it's a great tool but not a subscription fee. I already have enough subscriptions, Office 365, Antivirus, VPN, Spotify, etc. If they offered a more expensive lifetime license fee they would get a lot of business.

I'm having the same problem: very slow startup in the latest version, portable. it takes approximately 15-20 seconds.
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, 16 G, Intel.
ps .: if possible someone can tell me where i can download the previous version, portable.
Luckily I still have a copy of [link removed]
Don't forget to unblock the ZIP file before extracting it! "Are you sure you want to run this file?" [Yes or No] -

The problem seems to be caused by CCleaner being blocked by the firewall:
Adding these 2 entries to your HOSTS file will fix the slow startup issue:
0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com 0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com.edgesuite.net

Confirmed. I reported it a few minutes before you did in another topic.
Edit:
It's like it can't just gracefully abort/cancel/ignore the integrated web-based "stuff" in Health Check, etc., so that it doesn't hinder startup. It's the reason I downgraded yet again for another reason.Right, luckily I had CCleaner v5.65.7632 Portable in a backup so I'll just use that for now.

ESET Update: Multiple reports from users that ESET/NOD32 has fixed their false positive flagging, although as per @Spartan to ensure you get the fix ASAP you may need to "right click on the ESET icon and choose update so it will update to the latest definitions then restart your computer. Then it won't be detected".
To be confirmed, but a similar refresh of your AV should also fix most other major AVs as well.
As a side note, we have also had a report from someone who rang ESET customer service that they were told (incorrectly) that 5.66 was blocked due to PUA. I can only imagine that was a 1st level support engineer reading from an old script, since that would refer to the offer of the Chrome toolbar extension that was present in the installer for many years, but that we removed 11 months ago with version 5.58 (see https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/version-history)
Thanks for the clarification Dave. As I always say, NEVER listen to customer service staff! They are muppets.

Hi there, long time CCleaner here. I started blocking CCleaner via the Windows Firewall to stop any telemetry and whatnot or offers to upgrade to the Pro version. Only with this last update blocking CCleaner's internet access seems to slow down its startup big time. It takes about 7-10 seconds for it to start. I have a very fast laptop (Area-51m with an NVMe SSD) so it's not my laptop that's the issue.
Can something be done about this? Many members on the Wilders Security Forums also share my same experience.
PS: I'm using the portable edition

I went through all those folders, where was not one entry for "bugger". Perhaps because I only use the portable version and have deleted the driver updater and optimizer folders completely from the portable app and just use custom clean?
Here is how my CCleaner looks:
