Sorry squire, I can't help you other than the above. Would if I could, but it isn't something I'm into at all, and I don't think there's anything other than where you've already looked. You may get something from one of the other guys, but as we're all volunteers here I would be surprised if anyone had anything more informative than that topic. But, you never know.

For a lot of info on that subject, I would suggest the best possible place you could look is the first post here ... https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310&do=findComment&comment=175835 ... and in particular the "How to make your own Winapp2.ini entry!" section. I would point out that the "Winapp2.ini" file mentioned is a user generated file (and project) and is not in any way supported by or updated by Piriform. And any discussion on that subject is strictly limited to that particular thread. Other than that, it probably contains all the guidance you're looking for. Hope that helps.

If you guys don't mind me sticking my two penneth in again I would ask if "Aero Glass" is the default Win 7 theme? I could be wrong but I maybe it isn't. Is it a blue theme of some sort? I don't have Win 7, but if I change the theme of my XP desktop, the border of CCleaner picks up the border of the new theme. And I'm not talking third party themes here, but the installed themes like XP or Classic. CCleaner behind the Control Panel with the blue "XP" border ... CCleaner behind the Control Panel having picked up the old "Classic" border ... CCleaner seems to be one of those programs which can pick up the theme of the Operating System, especially if that theme has been changed. There may be a setting within Win 7 to have whatever theme is selected to not be transferred to the bordered windows of software. And to perhaps indicate what I mean have a look at the settings within my XP "Change the Computers Theme" settings. It's as complicated as it looks, but take note of the setting with the yellow highlight ... It seems that changing themes can affect an Application background. Maybe dig into Win 7's display settings for a fix.

Hi Ray, and welcome to the forum. CCleaner Pro+ as you probably know is a package containing Professional versions of CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva and Speccy. The "Hardware Analysis" you mention being covered by Piriforms "Speccy" program. You haven't got a third party Windows theme installed have you? When I used to mess around with themes many years ago, I've seen the newly installed window effect transferred to the borders of some software windows. Just a thought.

I've been an Avast Free user since 2006, and I've never had or felt the need to update the Avast Program itself for many years. Separate from the Program update, Avast has an "Engine and Virus Definitions" update which is all I've ever needed, along with other layers of security, to keep a clean computer. And this is with an operating system not supported by microsoft since 2014. You can see how old my Avast Program is in the screenshot, but the Engine and Virus Definitions are always up to date. I've never wanted or needed the various extras which have been added over the years. Please note, as usual, this is not a recommendation, just an observation that you don't always need all the "new and amazing" bells and whistles that can come with any updated software. A large dollop of common sense also works wonders with security.

Hi Tim, and welcome to the forum. Firstly, the pro version of Recuva will not give better functionality than the free when it comes to scanning. Secondly, as the files haven't actually been deleted, have you gone into "Options/Actions" and selected "Scan for non deleted files"? Lastly, you could try checking that drive out with WD Drive Utilities, available here ... https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en They might give you an indication as to whether you still have some form of hardware issue, and "WD My Book" is on the list of applicable drives. Hope that helps.

Just to add to Triums question, which "virtual" software are you running? I know you've used PowerShadow for a long time and like me, with no issues, but I remember a little while ago you mentioned another one which was new to you. I can't even search the forum for it as I can't remember it's name. Did you go down the road of that other program?

Hi Haiwee, and welcome to the forum. Try initially unchecking "Adobe Flash Player" in "Applications/Multimedia". If doing this retains your log-in, then it will give us a guide as to where to look for your log-in details. Unless I'm behind the times, I think a lot of sites will still be using flash cookies as their means of log-in and settings storage.

Hi Macchiavello, and welcome to the forum. Have a try opening your stuff with "IrfanView". I've had success opening damaged pics with it in the past. It's opened pics with only half the image displayed. IrfanView (portable version: no install required) May not work for you but well worth a try, and if you do open anything with it, then save each image off within Irfanview as a new jpg. Good luck.
