  1. in the past, sometimes i would hear people tell others not to use ccleaner for cleaning firefox but it has never been a problem for me.

just make sure to untick the option for removing "site preferences."

running ccleaner 6.22 did not remove my brower-extensions of any of the settings that i had for them. i don't think that there is any cleaning of browser-extensions.

i also rolled back to ccleaner 6.21.

  2. at first i was thinking that ccleaner wouldn't install anything norton but then i remembered that ccleaner (avast) was bought by the same company that owns norton.

the "performance optimizer" is suppose to shut down processes that run in the background, that are not needed, but now, with performance optimizer's running in the background, the only process that is not needed, and needs to be shut down, is the performance optimizer itself.

  3. ccleaner typically removes cookies but you can set it to save the cookies that you want to save.

browsers also can be set to remove cookies and to save the cookies that you want to save.

also, these days, browsers have "tracking protection" that blocks cookies. not all cookies, but some cookies.

google is working on ending the use of all cookies but we will have to see how that works out.

cookies are no big thing. as i said, you can use settings to save the cookies that you want to be saved but, if they get deleted, they are easily replaced.

  4. ccleaner has "options" for adjusting settings. have you gone through all of the settings-options, adjusting them to the way that you want them?

i don't really have a way to monitor ccleaner's starting, but i believe that, on my computer, it does launch at "startup," when i am booting up my computer, but that it only runs briefly, and then closes automatically. again, it only runs briefly, and closes automatically, so i don't have to tlose it.

i don't know why ccleaner runs briefly at startup but i think that it is to check for updates, even though i have ccleaner's automatic updates disabled.

  5. i think that you should be thankful that ccleaner alerts you to the fact that Edge is running in the background and offers to close it for you, so that all of the junk-files that are associated with Edge can be removed.

obviously ccleaner is not the problem. the problem is with Edge and windows 11.

Cleaner didnt used to show stupid popup

if you set Edge to not run in the background, you won't see the stupid popup. to do that, in Edge's settings, go to "system" and, there, disable "startup boost" and "continue running in background." if those are already disabled, toggle them on and then off, again, to reset those settings.

    no box

    just automatically force close edge

obviously ccleaner does not do that.

if you read my post, above, you can adjust Edge's settings to where Edge actually closes when you close it, where it is not necessary for ccleaner to  force it to close. otherwise you will have to deal with the prompt where ccleaner asks you if you want it to close Edge, in order to be able to remove the junk-files that are associated with it.

  8. i haven't noticed any issues with Edge.

to stop Edge from running in the bakground, after you have closed it, in Edge's settings, in "system," disable "startup boost" and "continue running Edge in the background." then Edge will actually be closed when you close it. then, when Edge is actually closed, ccleaner can remove the junk-files, like cookies and cached webpages, that are associated with it.

if those settings are already disabled, toggle them on and off again to reset them.

  9. i don't think that there is anything to worry about, in this case.

there was a breach regarding ccleaner's paying customers, but i would imagine that most of the information was encrypted, so nothing to worry about.
