This is correct. Avast/Piriform have released this as spyware. I'm gone after years of pro use.

The Avast takeover has not gone well. I was a pro user but now I'm gone. Try {xxxxxxxxx}.

The new version's active monitoring and the fact that control to turn it off deliberately does not work is completely unacceptable. I neither want nor need active monitoring so this is nothing but spyware.

As a Pro versi8on user having this sort of thing foist on us with no way to opt out is entirely unacceptable. To have a control to turn this off which does NOT work is simply rubbing salt into the wound.
