  1. I was finally able to resolve the issue. After unpinning it from the taskbar, I right-clicked the "ghost" icon and selected "CCleaner". A message appeared that the icon was no longer in a valid location and was asked if I wanted to delete it. I answered yes and the icon disappeared from the taskbar.
  2. Yes, it was my intention to remove the taskbar icon. I too find it odd that the icon is still present even after it is unpinned and the computer is restarted. The shortcut does not exist in the Taskbar folder location you mentioned after the unpinning is performed. I did try unpinning from the Desktop icon itself with the same results. I have even tried using the F5 function key on the Desktop which has refreshed the screen for previous versions of the Windows OS. I'll just leave it alone. Thanks for your help.
  3. I tried the first suggestion and the CCleaner icon temporarily changes to a text document icon. If I right-click on this icon it changes back to a CCleaner icon with the same Jump List shown.
  4. I am using the free version of CCleaner v5.36.6278. Is there any setting update that will remove the CCleaner jump list from the taskbar? I am running Windows 8.1.
