The problem between Kasperky and Ccleaner persists, until when?

[CCleaner "freezes"]

Hi,

I am using the latest CCleaner version with Windows 7 up to date and from a week ago (more or less) to this day, CCleaner freezes totally when pressing the "Run Cleaner"  button and I have to END the CCleaner.exe process from the task manager!

At the same time, a new folder named  AppHang_CCleaner.exe_3453bb3c44b516b612e6b34a3bf543eb57f765e_176523e1  located at C:\Users\AT\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppHang_CCleaner.exe_3453bb3c44b516b612e6b34a3bf543eb57f765e_176523e1  is created!!!

I am using Kaspersky IS but even if I disable it for a few minutes,  CCleaner freezing occurs.

I am attaching the AppHang folder compressed with 7Zip and maybe someone here can decode the Report.wer file located inside.

[V 5.42.6495 64 bit Cleaner does not work]

Exact same behavior, so I had to revert to CCleaner Ver. 5.41.6446 and it works fine.

also, that option is only shown if there is the windows.old folder to clean.

That sounds logical, since I recall erasing the old installation folder with Win Disk CleanUp on my wife´s Laptop, so maybe it is justified the lack of the option on that machine.

Are they both the same version of CCleaner? It's been asked for that feature to be removed for obvious reasons, even though I don't think Piriform was able to replicate this issue as detailed below.

 

The issue:

It's been found by a number of people that if you allow CCleaner to delete the Windows.old folder that it can or may break Win10, resulting into having to reinstall the operating system. There's a few topics on the forum where people have had issues with it.

 

If wanting to remove Windows.old you should instead only use Disk Cleanup which is built into Windows itself to avoid possibly breaking Win10.

Both machines have the same CC ver. 5.31.6105  x64bit  installed, so it is kind of odd!

I do not know if this could qualify as a bug, but I am kind of curious:

 

On my DESKTOP´S PC (Windows 10), CCleaner ---> Cleaner ---> Windows ---> Advanced, appear, among other options like "Windows Event Logs" or "Old Prefetch data", the "Old Windows Installation" option, which is missing on my wife´s laptop copy of CCleaner, same OS and CCleaner version (5.31.6105 x64),   ...how come?
