  1. Really, you are not a dogmatic. It's always a pleasure to read your acknowledged posts and learn with. Even when happen to think otherwise. Regards
  2. Unlike MVPS hosts file I use hpHosts file. I have a (stupid?) question: Do I can to redirect a page web to another page in my PC with host's file manipulating? - not to another page in web but in my computer! Can I? How?

    Maxthon 2

Thanks for this FYI. I never tried Firefox... (yes, I know I'm alone in this forum...). I use Maxthon v. 1 since when it was MyIE2. It is very nice and I like to work with it. I'll try Maxthon v. 2 Beta soon.
  4. I agree with you. And about Total Uninstall support? You can read in their forum this curious, really weird and a bit disappointing info: "locked because of excessive spamming"... ... ZSoft Uninstaller isn't only a install/uninstall analyzer application. The user have a very good add/remove manager: e.g. you can hide the Windows Updates and others additional programs that the user don't need displayed always. Isn't it faultless, irreproachable? Of course not! But it is excellent. P.S.: Now, Uninstall Tool is payware too... Regards
  5. Beyond the AVGINET.EXE file you need allow the avgwb.dat file (AVG Basic Interface).

    Jkdefrag

But... A defrag app. only defrag if there are something fragmented. It doesn't defrag what it is defragmented! To have or not to have a real-time defrag it is a dissimilar affair. And the Hard Disk don't stay tired... It is hard... But... A Diskeeper' opinion HERE.
  7. A few weeks ago I was decided to try several firewalls to take place of Zone Alarm Free. I was attempt to Pc Tools Firewall (rridgely'post left me curious), Comodo Firewall Pro (yes, they changed the name in v. 2.4) and Jetico Personal Firewall. After tried Pc Tools Firewall (that is really mild and nice) I'm trying Comodo Firewall Pro. Why? Because... in the latest version 2.4 they have a translation in my portuguese language (and with a very good translation)... And Jetico? It seems to be appreciable - TeeJay3800'advise. Nevertheless (like rridgely thought) Jetico Support say here that "JPF v2 will be shareware". Bye Jetico!

    Jkdefrag

Auslogics Disk Defrag seems work nicely. You can see this topic. However it don't work in the background or in stand by and don't optimize the disk by moving the folders/files. TreeJay3800 posted about. I never tried Diskeeper - I like freeware... It uses real-time defrag, true background processing. Don't make a data movement to optimize; if you like a real time defrag you can try the freeware IObit SmartDefrag (still BETA). To the common user like me the Screen Saver method from JkDefrag is enough - and I don't need to download 14 MB to defragment my drive (and to pay for that...). I like also Contig (and PowerDefragmenterGUI) from Mark Russinovich. JkDefrag add a real optimization and it is a apt defrag program! And the Screen Saver option is a corroboration from a intelligent and sagacious programmer. The congratulations for him! Regards

    Atf Cleaner

I use it in my pen drive - it's little and become effective.
  10. It's a crucial matter: Please see here for more details. I think that can clarify you. And ZSoft Uninstaller have this question present.

    Jkdefrag

The freeware JkDefrag application was just released to v. 3.6. This disk defragment and optimize utility for Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista/X64 is better and better after resolved some bugs in Screen Save version. Screen Save method: very interesting and useful attribute. By this the users don't need worry about forget anymore the defragmentation. It is made automatically when screensaver is activate. GUI: like config.exe'Sysinternals app. (with PowerDefragmenterGUI) now JkDefrag has the JkDefragGui (don't needed to know the commandline options). It can to be downloaded from the Home Page - even as the recent German and French'versions. P.S.: I knew this utility in a fredvries'post. Thanks for that fredvries. Regards

    Foxit Reader

Foxit Reader updated to v. 2.0.2007.1316. Print problems with HP was solved (at least to me). They are working.
  13. You can save files/folders'emails from O. Express in folder that is set in your OE, by this way (the names aren't literal, I'm not using english OE): Menu > Tools > Options > Maintenance - button "Arquive Folders". You can save all the files that are in this folder.
  14. Free Window Registry Repair seems interesting and a soft application. In their home page they behold RegSeeker and CCleaner the "The Best Freeware Registry Repair Programs" and there are a registry cleaners freeware list.
  15. Daemon Tools is installed with WhenU'Adware. Perhaps the stuff pops up came from that.
  16. From "Spyware Warrior" here: They are talking from Spyware Terminator. Don't confuse with Spyware Terminator from invender.nl or Spyware X-terminator from Stompsoft.
  17. I have Spyware Terminator that makes a very good job with startup shield'feature. Their Real Time-Protection is excellent. A soft alternative is Arovax Shield that works well with startup items (the file extensions shield don't works).
  18. Another app. without installation: ProduKey Displays the ProductID and the CD-Key of MS-Office, Windows, Exchange Server, and SQL Server installed on your computer.

    No More XP CD

I tried and works well. Thanks Humpty. Does anybody know similar hit to Office'request?
  20. I'll stay with ZA free for now. It's better that to begin the new year with annoyances...
  21. It's good read this topic. I was attempted to try Comodo because all talk about. My ear become sick of... It is good to take a advice. About this: does somebody tried Ashampoo Firewall Free?
  22. Thanks for the advice. I received several spam about. A Good New Year
  23. Adobe Reader SpeedUp 1.36 don't delete files; it move some files for another folder with the purpose to allow Adobe pluggins'features turn out disabled. And later, if the user want, to enable again. How "Adobe Reader SpeedUp" info said: "ARSU stores unused plugins in the Optional folder of Acrobat/Reader. This means that when a PDF is viewed and Acrobat/Reader requires a plugin for full functionality, it'll be loaded automatically for that particular PDF only".
  24. For over a year I'm using the excellent Registry Cleaner "MV RegClean" from Marcos Velasco Security. It's a freeware, easy-to-use, reliable and a unbending trust application. I have not yet troubles with this useful program in these years. You can download this application: MV RegClean or here P.S. The native language is portuguese. I don't know if in the latest version there are the english installer. If no you can see the following screenshots to help: Start Scan Options
  25. How pwillener said before, with different versions of Acrobat and Reader you will can have troubles. But if you need Acrobat 6.0 installed and to update Reader to v. 8.0 my advice is to uninstall Reader 6.0 without uninstall Acrobat 6.0. Only after install Reader 8.0. You said that you don't have Reader 6.0 to uninstall in Add/Remove. But maybe you can... You can try this: Install this Microsoft utility: Windows Installer Clean Up Open Windows Installer Clean Up - and if Adobe Reader 6.0 is in the list of installed produts you can select it (only Reader, never Acrobat!) and uninstall with this utility. And now you can get Reader 8.0. If Reader 6.0 isn't in this list you can install Reader 8.0, and the installation automatically create the news registry entries and overwrite Reader 6.0. And if the 6.0'folder remain after - don't delete it.
