  1. There is a bug in running CCleaner on Windows XP SP3 (POSReady 2009 to be specific) with Internet Explorer 8 if Internet Explorer cache is ticked to be cleaned. After cleaning Internet Explorer cache, 4 empty folders with random letters (XXXXX) are created in the following 2 locations under the logged in users profile: C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore\ C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UserData\ This cleaning behavior would at first glance appear normal, however, 4 ADDITIONAL folders are being created on each CCleaner cleaning run. There should only be 4 empty folders and an 'index.dat' file after a successful clean (such as when cleaning using Internet Explorers control panel applet). This leads to a build up of many empty folders that slows down the system as a whole (when I first noticed the bug I had over 500 empty folders. Luckily I noticed this pretty quickly). I'm hoping someone could check the two locations above on their systems for the same symptoms, or could this be an XP related problem? In the meantime I have added an exception for the folders to be emptied manually. Thanks for reading, and I hope this at least catches the eye of a developer!
