  1. Seventeen days later, problem resolved. In the end, I was given new software to download, and a new license number. Glad to be up and running again.
  2. Despite uninstalling and reinstalling the software (including a computer reboot between operations), the official build installation didn't work, unfortunately. It's worth noting that the software automatically filled in my name and license number during the reinstall process. Which means that older, "uninstalled" versions had not, in fact, uninstalled completely. Remnants left behind are now gumming up the works. We'll see what the support team has to say!
  3. Yes, I did install a trial version, so that may be the problem. Will try installing from the Builds page, and report back. (Never knew about the Builds page, so thanks very much for the link. That will be my download source from now on.) This morning, on your advice, I contacted the CCleaner wrasslin' team. If a download from the Builds page doesn't fix me, I'm sure they'll have a solution. You've been a huge help. Thanks again. Brooks
  4. Thanks for your input, nukecad. Yes, I reinstalled the trial version (free) of CCleaner. (I did not repurchase the software, as my current license doesn't expire until April 2024.) Kind thanks for the link. I will petition the Top Guns for further assistance. Cheers!
  5. Hiya. I made the mistake of uninstalling the previous version of CCleaner Professional prior to updating to the latest version (6.16.10662 for Windows). The newly installed software won't allow me to reactivate my license, even though I've confirmed (and reconfirmed) that my license number is correct. My current CCleaner license is viable through April of 2024. I've followed CCleaner's troubleshooting advice for solving "deactivation" problems, but the the problem persists. The software has deactivated my license, and I can't get past the roadblock. If anyone has thoughts as to what else I might try, I'd be grateful for your help. Thanks very much!
  6. Hi, folks. This is only a minor annoyance, but I wanted to report it. Health Check is showing one of my installed programs (Driver Easy) as needing an update, when it doesn't The program is up-to-date. I've reinstalled Driver Easy twice..... The first time, I downloaded the latest version from the Driver Easy site, and updated the program manually. When I ran CCleaner, Health Check still showed the program as being out-of-date. The second time, I let CCleaner's own built-in updater run the Driver Easy update, but again, Health Check isn't registering the update. Below, a screen grab from the Health Check screen. Appreciate your help, and thanks.
  7. I'm very sorry for not having replied sooner to thank you for your help. Please accept my apology. Am happy to say that since my last visit here, I've had no further problems. For several weeks, I simply stopped using the Health Check feature. Then, when I tested it again, the issue had resolved itself. Maybe a CCleaner software update took care of the problem I was having, or maybe the problem was just a fluke. In any case, all is well now. Thank you again for taking the time to help me!
  8. I appreciate your help! Thanks, and I'm very sorry for not having responded sooner. As clearly as I can describe it, here's what happened. I opened Health Check, clicked "Start," and the software ran its usual scan. Ordinarily, when there's an option to update one or more pieces of software, CCleaner will let you know by displaying the number of optional updates here: https://i.imgur.com/Yoe23tQ.png (Elsewhere on that same screen, CCleaner displays junk files that needs cleaning.) This time, CCleaner displayed a few junk files, but failed to indicate that any software updates were pending. So when I clicked "Make it better," CCleaner not only cleaned the junk files, but updated software without first alerting me. As in the screenshot linked above, CCleaner had displayed "0 apps to update." It may have been a one-off, as you say. Will report back if it happens again, and thanks. Slight tangent: Health Check always finds junk files missed by Custom Clean — up to 13 MB of new junk every day. Were that not the case, I wouldn't bother running Health Check at all. Thanks again for diving in to help me. I'll be back if the issue persists, but for now, happy holidays!
  9. Hi, gang. Before the latest update to CCleaner Pro, we were given the option of updating Windows apps — OR NOT— via the Health Check "Security" feature. CCleaner would indicate when an app update was available...but if the upgrade was unwanted, it was possible to untick a box next to the app's name, and Health Check would bypass the update. The option NOT to update seems to have disappeared from the latest version of CCleaner Pro. Health Check now updates apps automatically. Have I've overlooked a setting in the new CCleaner Pro that would disable automatic app updates? I'd prefer that CCleaner not make update decisions for me. Sometimes a particular app's version is the version I wish to keep. Thanks for your help. CCleaner Pro 6.07.10191 (64-bit) Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
  10. Again to the rescue! Thanks, Nergal.
  11. Hidy-hi. During the installation process, I passed up the opportunity to read the release notes for the latest version of CCleaner Pro. Would like to read them now. Where do release notes hide out? Can't find 'em. Thanks! Brooks - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Windows 7 Pro x64, SP1 CCleaner Professional 5.43.6520.
  12. Perfecto! Appreciate your help, Nergal, and thanks!
  13. Since there doesn't appear to be more than one download link for CCleaner Professional (trial version), is it safe to assume that the trial version is 64-bit? (Which would be great.) Kind thanks for your help.
  14. Thanks, Hazelnut. Nine hours later I'm pale, but relieved.
