  1. I think that @Matt78may have spotted the problem. I believe that the CCleaner server(s) has been under a heavy load since the new CCleaner version was launched yesterday, which may explain this sudden issue. Hopefully things should calm down again and you will then be able to access the server to register.
  2. Copy and Paste the key from your email to make sure you are not mistaking letters/numbers. Make sure you are using the same name that you registered. See here for help with problems when registering: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional
  3. I've flagged this for staff attention. It may be best if you don't use that machine until you get a reply, that will give a better chance of restoring any files. In the meantime it may help if you could you give more details of the Windows 10 version number, CCleaner version number, and any AV that you have installed. Also if the deleted files were on your C: drive or elsewhere? I do note that your Windows 10 is 32-bit. I'm not sure if that is relevant but it may be.
  4. It can be a know issue that Microsoft Casual Games freeezes. Often it will be due to a 'broken' advert or 'broken' advertising link. Try disconnecting from the net and playing the games offline (until the particular ad is fixed) so that it doesn't try to show any ads. You can find more info here: https://microsoftcasualgames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403080898196-KNOWN-ISSUE-Microsoft-Solitaire-Collection-Hangs-or-Freezes-and-Needs-to-be-Restarted
  5. You need to use your forum name (Charles Robinson) and password when logging in to the forum, the forum login does not use your email address.
  6. You are not the first to ask this. It's a simple missunderstanding of what 'Launch the CCleaner app window each time the computer starts' actually does. And of what does make CCleaner keep running in the background. 'Launch the CCleaner app window each time the computer starts' simply runs a clean at start and then closes CCleaner. It puts a flashing icon in the system tray when the computer starts, but ony for seconds while the clean is running and the icon disappears once the clean has finished. It can be so quick that you don't even notice it. (Despite what it says it doesn't actually open any window). There are two functions that will run CCleaner in the background, so that a CCleaner icon remains in the system tray (not flashing) and CCleaner is shown in Task Manager as running. Smart Cleaning: If you have Smart Cleaning enabled it needs to run in the background to monitor for junk building up, or for a browser being closed. 'Keep CCleaner updated automatically': This needs to run in the background to periodically check if an update is avaiable. (I believe it checks every 12 hours). If either of those options is selected then it runs in the background, so you will get the icon in the system tray and Task Manager will say CCleaner is running. If you manualy close CCleaner from that icon, or from Task Manager, then those two functions will stop working until next time you start CCleaner or start your machine.
  7. "Exception code: 0xc0000409" is a Stack Buffer Overflow error, but why your machine is throwing this error is another question. You appear to have done the usual trouble shooting, but a couple of things I noticed there- Firstly you say you updated to 20H2 which is not the latest Windows 10 fully released version, the latest fully released version is 21H1. Did you mean you updated to 21H2? That is an Insider version. Insider versions are still in beta and so may throw some odd problems. TBH I expect that is what you are seeing, but a couple of other things - Did you do the DISM before SFC? You mention them the other way round. You should do the DISM first, DISM refreshes/updates the image files which are then used by SFC. Did you do a 'Restart' after uninstalling CCleaner but before installing a new one, did you download a new installer? That's a 'Restart' because with Windows 10 Restart clears more than Shutdown/Boot. And download a new CCleaner installer in case the one you already have somehow got corrupted when you downloaded it. You can get a fresh installer from here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds 0xc0000409 can also be caused by a Firewall block. Did you try running CCleaner with Symantec disabled/uninstalled? Did you check on the Symantec website that you have the latest version? (Not 'Check for Updates' in the programme itself, we have seen those be wrong with various AVs). This talks about the 0xc0000409 error occuring with a Windows Update but the advice is still valid for all instances of 0xc0000409 https://www.fileinspect.com/blog/fix-windows-10-error-0xc0000409/
  8. It isn't a problem, if you have reinstalled the whole OS then simply install CCleaner Free and register it again. You can quickly download the installer for CCleaner Free from here (it's slightly quicker to use the Slim installer, 3rd down): https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds You will notice that where a Pro version says 'Licence information' the Free version says 'Upgrade to Pro'. So simply re-register CCleaner by using Options>About>Upgrade to Pro to re-enter your license key, then click 'Register'. If you didn't make a note of your licence key then you can get it again here: https://www.ccleaner.com/support/license-lookup Note that you can do the same if moving your CCleaner Pro from one machine to a new/diferent one, in that case simply uninstall CCleaner from the old machine before re-registering it on the new one.
  9. Afraid not, the licences are different. The Android version is only available, and can only be purchased/upgraded, through Google Play. (It's a restriction imposed by Google). https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003925692-How-can-I-download-and-install-CCleaner-Android-#how-can-i-download-and-install-ccleaner-android--0-0
  10. Not being able to reach the server is usually caused by your firewall, hosts file, and/or AV settings. (We do see users who block Avast/Piriform in their filrewall (or hosts fie) for 'privacy' and then shout that Ccleaner can no longer can no longer access the servers, of course not they've blocked access themselves) What version of Windows are you using? If Windows 10, which update version (1809, 1904, 20H2, etc) What AV/ firewall are you using? Are they up to date? Have you set them to block any CCleaner services? Have you modified your Hosts file?
  11. Simply download CCleaner Free and install it on your new computer. For ease you can download the installer from here (we recommend you use the 'Slim' installer, 3rd down): https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Once installed open CCleaner Free and go to Options>About>Upgrade to Pro Enter your registered name and license key as asked, then click on 'Register'. If you forgot to make a note of your licence key before uninstalling from the old computer then you can look it up here: https://www.ccleaner.com/support/license-lookup
  12. As said before, and now that I know that you have Trend Micro, checking for an update in Trend Micro itself has proven to be not always reliable. You sometimes have to go to the website itself to get the latest update of Trend Micro. I believe that the latest is version 17.6 https://downloadcenter.trendmicro.com/index.php?regs=uk&prodid=1775 In the past we have found that when users of Trend Micro update from the Trend website then their issue with CCleaner not running goes away.
  13. I doubt very much that it's malware, but of course have it checked out to be sure. It's probably an unusual setting that you have from somewhere.
  14. Desole, en Anglais. Trend Micro (Trends?) was one of the AVs that frequently showed / shows this blocking behaviour. I'm not at home right now, I'll take a look later when I can access a translation.
  15. Usually when we see this with CCleaner running once following the install and then not running again it is because of an Antivirus blocking it from running once installed. What antivirus are you using? What version number is it? Check that it is up to date, it's best to check on the website rather than just using 'Check for Updates' in the antivirus itself. We have in the past seen some antivirus programmes say they are up to date when in fact there is a later version available on the website.
  16. Pre-paid 'gift cards' can work in funny ways, especially online, they are not the same as a debit card issued in conjunction with a regular bank account. It may depend on just where/how you bought the gift card: If you don't have a debit card linked to an account then Paypal is usually a better way of putting cash into an account to use online: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/money-management/cash-to-paypal
  17. It's a advertiser/browser hijacker so to remove it you need an antivirus or antimalware app, there are plenty to choose from on the google play store. Malwarebytes is highly regarded, but it's your choice which AV/AM you want to use. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware&hl=en_GB&gl=US
  18. Did you copy/paste both the name and the number/letter key? It needs to be exactly the same name/spelling that you registered - and it has been occasionally known for people to make typos with their own name when registering. If you are still having problems then email support on support@ccleaner.com and they should be able to sort things out for you. It's best if you use the same email address that you used when registering so that they can easily look up your registration, (or at least let them know what that email address was).
  19. I believe that you are correct, like I say I'm still looking into it. (Plus I had Firefox on this machine set to clear cookies on closing, which wasn't helpful when looking at/for cookies). Checking the files where I know Firefox used to store cookies on disk both 'Cookies.squlite' and 'webappsstore.sqlite' appear to be empty (apart from a header) after I've been using Firefox. There were also cookies in '..\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\..\OfflineCache\index.sqlite', but the directory 'Offlinecache' is no longer there. However there does now seem to be partitioned cookies stored in '..\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\..\storage\default\https+++{various}\...' Guess I need to look into it more. (If only for my own Firefox batchfile).
  20. So distilling from the above 2 posts and going back to the question from @nikki605 You don't need to clear the Firefox Site Preferences, unless you want to.
  21. Thanks for that insight Rostia, If I might just add one more article from Webkit.org which may help users further understand these changes: Intelligent Tracking Prevention 1.1 In particular this: So as it says the 'new style' partitioned cookies are not written to your disk so don't need to be cleaned from it. And they no longer show up in Options>Cookies as 'Cookies on Computer', because they are not on your computer. EDIT- Sorry it appears that Firefox partitioned cookies are still on disk but in a different place, see below.
  22. I'm not sure if you can purchase CCleaner directly with a Bancontact card, but if not then you can do it with an extra step. You can use Bancontact to put credit on Paypal, and then use PayPal to purchase CCeaner. You will need to setup a paypal account if you don't have one already.
  23. Just delete it and don't worry about it. (If you found where it came from what would you do anyway? They change all the time, it's easy these days) Do check here once a month or so to make sure your email address or phone number hasn't been gathered from somewhere. https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Look at the menu there and you'll find the same check for passwords.
  25. Only you can decide that - for your own files. If they are system files then leave them alone, duplicates of system files are often needed and removing them can cause problems. You should normally have Duplicate Finder set to ignore system files.
