  1. It's because you have upgraded to CCleaner Pro rather than the Free version, you can stop it happening. There are a couple of things that you can do- I assume that you are using Health Check which includes an automatic check for updates to software installed on your machine. With the Free version that will only check, but now that you have Pro it will actually try to update them. (Unless you stop it, see below). That's one of the extra features of Pro. Use Custom Clean instead which just does cleaning, and won't try to update your apps. To set Custom Clean as your default go to Options>Settings and change the CCleaner Home Screen. PS. You can stop Health Check updating your software by doing the following each and every time you use it: After the checking stage click on 'Security', untick everything there, go back to overview, continue with 'Make it better'. But you have to do that everytime and that would be a PITA, forget to untick them just once and Health Check would try to update them. It's much easier to use Custom Clean instead which won't even try to update anything. PPS. "CCleaner Update" is for updating CCleaner itself, it's not for updating other apps, you may want to let it back through your firewall.
  2. Is this on a PC, a Mac, or an Android device?
  3. Are you trying to find the same 'tunes' saved in different formats? Files of different formats would not be duplicates as far as a computer is concened, they will contain different data (even if the 'tune' is the same when played). The names will be different, because the file extensions are different. The filesize with different formats would not be the same. (A Flac is typically six times larger than a MP3 of the same tune). The modified dates will be different, if only by minutes. The contents will be different, because they are different formats. However if you are just wanting to search for duplicate Flac's and duplicate MP3's at the same time then you set up different paths to include in the search and tick both. It will then search for duplicate Flac's, and for duplicate MP3's, but it won't match one type to the other. (Except possibly on filesize only, which would just be a coincidence if you did find a match between Flac/MP3 formats). eg. This will search for duplicate 'doc' files and duplicate 'txt' files on the users desktop, but it wouldn't consider 'ABC.doc' to be a duplicate of 'ABC.txt'. Even if they actually contained the same text they have different names, will be different sizes, have different dates, and the contents will be different because the doc will contain more formatting data. If you could explain more just what it is that you are trying to do then someone may have a suggestion.
  4. You will get a confirmation that your request has been recieved, and then support will contact you when your request gets to the top of the queue. (It is best if you send your request from the same email that you used to purchase CCleaner). They usually get back to you fairly quickly. I see that you posted this 15 hours ago, have you had a reply from support yet?
  5. I also could not see any 'Chat' button on that webpage. So I did some testing and found that it was my Adblockers that were hiding the chat button. I use both Adblock and Malwarebytes Browser Guard, and had to pause both for the button to become visible. Once I had paused both of them for that webpage then the chat button came up in the bottom left. EDIT: I have now narrowed it down further and for me it is the Ads/Trackers component of Malwarebytes Browser Guard that is preventing the Chat button from being shown on that webpage. Once Ads/Trackers is turned off for that website in MBG then the button shows as it should.
  6. I believe that the community add-on 'Winapp2.ini' already clears Nvidia files, including logfiles, so you may want to give that a try. More about Winapp2.ini can be found on this forum thread:
  7. As the (original) idea of CCleaner is to remove junkfiles, including logfiles, from your machine then having it create more logs itself would seem to be defeating the object. (I'm sure I've seen posts by the staff themselves making that point in the past). Having said that: recently we have seen a proliferation of CCleaner being able to create more logs itself, especially since the Driver Updater was introduced.
  8. The same advice as above; It may take a day or two to show as deactivated. If it doesn't show as deactivated after a few days then send an email to support.
  9. OK, that's fairy simple to do it how you want. It is the 'Session' information for the browser that keeps you logged into websites, if you clear the 'Session' you get logged out of everything (and any open tabs get closed). You can avoid CCleaner clearing the Session information by only using Custom Clean and simply unticking 'Session' for the Browser(s) where you want to stay logged in. Once unticked then Custom Clean will leave the session information alone. (Unless/until you tick it again). Note that Health Check does not respect those ticks/unticks in Custom Clean, they are only for use by Custom Clean. Health Check is meant as simple option and so always uses its own cleaning rules which you can't change. (You can control them a bit but have to do it each time you use Health Check). So even with 'Session' unticked in Custom Clean if you do happen to run Health Check that will still clear the Session information.
  10. A few questions: Are you using Health Check or Custom Clean? Which browser? And is it actually deleting the saved passwords - or just logging you out so that you need to login again? (It usally also helps if you say what Windows version/build you have an which antivirus you are using).
  11. Should have gone to Specsavers. Disclaimer - Other high street opticians are available - if not closed due to the plague, driver shortages, gas/CO2 shortages, or all their staff going back to Europe because of Brexit.
  12. I can't read that screenshot, it isn't clear - and the OP doesn't say which entry is being talked about. However I believe that you are both talking about the Toast Notifer "SpeechRuntime". This is known about, and it is not a bug it's just the way that Windows 10 works. See this:
  13. You can whitlist websites that you do not want to be affected by Kamo. See the online documentation: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045558192-How-can-I-ensure-that-Kamo-does-not-clear-cookies-from-a-particular-website- Ghostery and Kamo work in different ways. As I understand it Ghostery blocks the trackers, but Kamo doesnt block them and instead feeds them false information. So with Ghostery a tracker can know it's being blocked because it isn't collecting anything, (so may try to collect things a different way), with Kamo it still get something but what it gets is false. Ghostery also blocks ads, as does Adblock - Kamo is not an adblocker. https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045559792-Does-Kamo-block-ads-
  14. Interesting, I thought that CCleaner called the Windows uninstaller - but EP211 said Kamo wasn't showing in Windows Settings>Apps to uninstall. Kamo has it's own uninstaller in the setup exe - is that just calling the Windows uninstaller? (The more we know about these things the better we can help others).

    Windows 11 ?

  16. The Windows Media Creation Tool formats the USB drive to a partition of about 32GB for a 64-bit installation. - It does warn you that all files on the drive will be deleted and advises you to make a backup of any files on the drive before continuing. Because it's a reformat then that deletion will include the original Windows Master File Table, which is what Recuva normally uses to recover deleted files. The new MFT will only show what is on the newly formatted (approx. 32GB) partition. However you should (may?) be able to find the deleted files on the rest of the drive with a 'Deep Scan' in Wizard mode. https://www.ccleaner.com/docs/recuva/using-recuva/wizard-mode/the-deep-scan-option In particular read the 3 notes there, - you will still have to do some work to rename any files that are recovered. Obviously you need to recover to a different drive to avoid overwriting the data that you are trying to recover. I'm sure that in future you will be making regular backups of your important files, regardless of mistakes a drive could get corrupted or fail at anytime and trying to recover from a broken drive is (almost) impossible.
  17. Thanks for the feedback. I've never used the Driver Updater myself, so never had to use the recovery option, but from the support article I think the tickboxes should be there? That may depend on if you have the latest CC version installed? @Dave CCleaner any insight on this further than what it says in the FAQ article?
  18. As it says in your screenshot "Select any driver to revert it to a previous condition" - you have to first select a driver(s) for restoration before the button becomes active. There should be a tickbox to the left of each driver name. See this article for more info on reverting drivers if something has gone wrong with a driver update: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402564268429-I-m-having-a-problem-with-Driver-Updater-What-are-my-options-#updating-drivers-with-driver-updater-0-2 From that article:
  19. @EP211I have split this into it's own thread, so it can be more easily found by anyone else looking for how to uninstall Kamo. Like many (security) apps (antivirus, antiramsomware, etc.) that protect themselves from malware, Kamo cannot be uninstalled in the normal way from Windows. You don't want them to be easily uninstalled by bad guys. So you have to uninstall those apps using a tool from the developers of the software. In the case of Kamo you use the Kamo setup file to uninstall it (I agree that info could be easier to find); see here: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048784691-Troubleshooting-when-Kamo-cannot-detect-tracking-activity
  20. Inernet Explorer is (still) an integral part of Windows, and many applications other than the IE browser itself use it's storage spaces. It has become a convinent place for other applications to put temporary files. So even if you never use the Internet Explorer browser it's storage spaces still need cleaning. Because of that CCleaner still lists it and still cleans whatever may be stored in there by any application. (CCleaner itself put 3 files in there everytime that you open it, and then cleans them out again when you tell it to clean).
  21. As you say who knows just what caused the problem for you, but good to hear it was fairly easily sorted out by using the Slim installer. I'm guessing something glitched during the automatic update and left things in limbo until you did a re-install with the Slim installer. It probably won't ever happen to you again. As for the different installers: The CCleaner that gets installed is exactly the same; it's the installers themselves which are different. The Standard installer contains a bundled offer for other products which you can accept or decline, it connects to another server to show that offer. Some AV's object to that extra connection and so block the install altogether. Some AV's are erratic about if they block it or not. Although you wouldn't normally get the offer anyway on an automatic update, or from a 'Check for Updates', you should only see it if you are installing manually The Slim installer is intended for technicians and advanced users, it works slightly differently (and doesn't include any offer), so it doesn't try to connect to another server. Because it works slightly differently we often suggest trying it when people are having problems the Standard installer. You might want to bookmark that 'Builds' page for future use? TBH using the Standard installer while not connected to the internet achieves the same thing, in that case it knows there is no internet so doesn't try to show the offer. One other thing; but as you have Malwarebytes I'm positive this wasn't your issue. Certain AV's are notoriously slow to update and so will block a new CCleaner version from running for a few days after it is released, once the AV gets an update it recognises the new CCleaner and stops blocking it. (We saw quite a bit of that when some AVs were being even slower to update as people worked at home during covid).
  22. TBH Willy it is only you that is reporting it. I'm not sure if that's because it's specific to your particular (email) setup? or if maybe others see it but aren't bothered by it. (It's easy enough to delete an extra email).
  23. Normally that is a sign that your anivirus is stopping CCleaner from running. (It will often run the first time from the installer but then not again as the AV blocks it). But I've never known Malwarebytes to block CCleaner. Just to double check, you are not running Malwarebytes side-by-side with another AV? It is interesting that you say that you can download/install from the bundle site but not from elsewhere. This may have already been suggested by support, but try downloading the 'Slim' installer from here (3rd one down) and see if that will install and run. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Of even more interest is that you say this started 5 days ago, which is the day that the update to CCleaner v5.85 was released. Can you remember if you had Automatic Updates turned on in CCleaners Options>Updates? We haven't had any other reports here of such problems with v5.85, but all computers are different and someone has to be first to report something odd. To see if it is the 5.85 update causing your issue you could roll back and try reinstalling v5.84. I'd do the install while not connected to the internet, so that it doesn't automatically update itself to v5.85 again. If v5.84 installs and runs offline then turn off automatic updating before reconnecting to the internet and checking that it still runs when connected. You can download the v5.84 installer here: https://download.ccleaner.com/ccsetup584.exe If 5.84 runs for you but 5.85 doesn't then do come back and let us know, the developers will be interested in finding out why.
  24. On the contrary, if the problem stops when you stop using the VPN then it is clearly the VPN causing the problem by blocking the needed connection(s). If you can't drive your car down a road because of a barrier you blame the barrier not the car. Remove the barrier (turn off the VPN) and you can get through.
  25. To be considered a duplicate the files must match on all of the 'Match by' options that you have set. To reduce the list of what is found you should set it to ignore System Files. (That will reduce your huge list). System Files are by far the majority of the duplicates that get found, and those system file duplicates are usually needed by the system to work properly. Removing any system file duplicates could make things start to work oddly or not work at all. You should only ever consider it if you are an advanced user trying to fix a problem with a system. In general you should only be searching for duplicates of your own files, photos, music, etc. - so set it to ignore system files. You can also use the other ignore options to further filter the list of what are found as duplicates. The Duplicate Finder lists all duplicates found within your search criteria, so that you can see the pathname of where each duplicate is. It would not be much use just saying there is a duplicate (or more than one) without telling you where it is located. Only you can decide what you want to do with any duplicates it finds. (and you may want to keep the duplicates). For that reason the tool is a Duplicate Finder and not a Duplicate Remover. PS. If you want to find the number of files on a drive the you can simply use File Explorer. In FE open the drive to show its contents then on the menu click 'Select All'. Right click on one of the selected folders and select Properties. Windows will count the total number of files, and the number of folders, along with the size they all take up, on the drive (it can take some time for Windows to count them all). There are other methods of counting files using a Command Window, or Powershell. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-count-number-folders-and-files-inside-folder/ I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for though? For getting statistics of what is on your discs you might want to look at apps such as Wiztree or Windirstat.
